The Assistant Director of Dining Services I role at Chartwells K12 is a highly visible management position responsible for assisting with day-to-day food service operations across a medium to large volume location. This role oversees the operations in 17 schools, ensuring the delivery of nutritious, high-quality foods tailored to meet the preferences of a diverse student population. This leadership role requires managing and developing a team of about 54 frontline associates and working closely with the Director and management team to achieve financial, operational, and client satisfaction targets. The Assistant Director plays a critical role in maintaining the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, presentation, and consistency across all locations.
Key responsibilities include partnering with chefs and culinary teams to create nutritious menu options and implementing new culinary programs that engage students. The role also involves strengthening client relationships and upholding excellence in service execution. This position demands strong leadership abilities, operational and financial acumen, as well as the ability to deliver outstanding dining experiences while minimizing waste. The Assistant Director supports talent development among associates, ensuring ongoing training and growth opportunities. The candidate is expected to have prior experience in food service management, preferably within restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, or healthcare settings, and possess proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office. Preferred candidates have an associate’s degree but relevant experience is equally valued. Job Requirements
