The open role is for an Assistant Cook specializing primarily in cold food preparation for various service lines, including grab-and-go, cold side patient meals, and deli sections. - Knowledge of food handling procedures and safety requirements

- Must pass food handling certification tests
- Possession of Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card for employment at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital
- Signing of Arizona Criminal History Affidavit upon hire
Job Qualifications
- Ability to learn and follow established policies and procedures
- Effective communication skills
- Basic math skills for portioning and inventory
- Capability to perform tasks within limited timeframes
- Knowledge of food handling and safety regulations
- Ability to learn operation of food service equipment including stoves, ovens, grills, fryers, slicers, beverage dispensers, and sanitation tools
- Certification in food handling preferred
- Additional related education or experience preferred
Job Duties
- Prepare and portion all cold food items according to standardized recipes and production forecasts
- Maintain par levels of food and supplies, reorder and restock as needed, rotate stock and check freshness dates
- Check and log food and equipment temperatures, report any issues to the supervisor
- Keep assigned work areas clean and organized
- Assist in setting up prep carts and serve meals on patient tray lines
- Follow established recipes, procedures and routines under regular supervision
- Adhere to food safety and handling regulations during all food preparation processes
