The community is beautifully situated with scenic views of Cedar Lake and meticulously maintained grounds, providing residents with a peaceful and comfortable living experience. Conveniently accessible via metro bus stops near Cedar Lake Ave and Drew Ave S, Jones-Harrison combines accessibility with a serene setting.
Jones-Harrison Senior Living is currently seeking an Assistant Cook to join their team. This role is an integral part of the nutrition and culinary services department, dedicated to enhancing the dining experience for residents while also ensuring kitchens and related areas are well stocked and maintained. The position offers a casual and flexible schedule with three shifts per month, including one weekend shift, making it suitable for individuals seeking part-time hours with flexibility. This role is designed to support safe food preparation, timely meal service in the dining rooms, and upkeep of kitchenettes throughout the community.
The Assistant Cook position requires adherence to all policies and procedures regarding food safety, infection control, and sanitation. The individual in this role will prepare and serve food while maintaining clean workspaces and equipment sanitation after each use. The role also involves monitoring supplies and supporting the supervision of department staff as needed. Candidates will find this position ideal if they have experience in high-volume food preparation environments and a passion for contributing to the wellbeing of senior residents.
Ebenezer, the parent organization, is committed to offering generous benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, disability coverage, paid time off, tuition reimbursement, and retirement plans, alongside innovative options like early access to earned wages. This ensures that employees are supported both personally and professionally. Jones-Harrison's mission revolves around helping seniors to heal, discover, and educate for longer, healthier, and more meaningful lives, making the Assistant Cook role a vital component of delivering that mission through quality nutrition and care.
Candidates interested in this opportunity should have the ability to use technology including computers, hand-held devices, and software such as Microsoft Office. While not mandatory, preferred candidates will have ServSafe certification and experience working in similar high-volume kitchen environments. Compensation is competitive, with pay rates based on qualifications, experience, and market conditions, reflecting a commitment to pay equity within the organization. Jones-Harrison Senior Living is an equal opportunity employer, encouraging applications from all qualified individuals without regard to protected status.
