The Salvation Army is a global charitable organization known for its comprehensive social services and humanitarian efforts. Established over 150 years ago, it operates in various sectors including disaster relief, social welfare, rehabilitation programs, and community development. The organization is committed to helping vulnerable populations and empowering communities through a range of support services. With a mission-driven approach, The Salvation Army provides not only immediate aid but also long-term solutions that foster self-sufficiency and dignity among individuals it serves. The organizational culture emphasizes inclusivity, compassion, and respect, creating a supportive environment for both employees and beneficiaries. It is recognized as an equal opportunity employer, actively encouraging applications from diverse backgrounds including veterans, people with disabilities, those impacted by the justice system, and individuals without a college degree. This approach highlights its dedication to workforce inclusivity and community representation.

This opportunity is for the position of Kitchen Supervisor within The Salvation Army's food service operations. The role involves managing kitchen activities, ensuring that meals are prepared and served according to a planned menu schedule while upholding strict standards of cleanliness and safety. The Kitchen Supervisor will oversee kitchen helpers in the absence of the Chef, provide training to beneficiaries participating in kitchen tasks, and enforce food safety protocols critical to maintaining health regulations. Responsibilities include maintaining kitchen order, monitoring food storage and inventory, and supporting overall kitchen operations. The role occasionally requires stepping in for the Resident Manager during evening or overnight shifts, reflecting the comprehensive supervisory nature of the position.

Candidates should expect to work in a kitchen environment characterized by moderate noise, warm and humid conditions, and temperature fluctuations. Physical requirements include regular standing and walking, lifting or moving up to 50 pounds, manual dexterity, and the ability to adapt to varying environmental conditions. The organization values strong communication skills, attention to detail, basic math proficiency, and the ability to operate standard computer systems. The position offers professional development opportunities within a supportive team environment and promotes training and advancement. The compensation and employment type details would typically be provided during the application or interview process, aligning with nonprofit sector standards. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about community service, food safety, and operational leadership within a charitable organization setting.
