Job Description
The Community Builders, Inc. (TCB) is a prominent nonprofit real estate developer and owner dedicated to strengthening neighborhoods across the United States. With a deep commitment to social impact, TCB focuses on creating and sustaining strong, inclusive communities where individuals and families from various income levels can thrive and achieve their full potential. Established as one of America's leading organizations in the nonprofit housing sector, The Community Builders operates with a mission to enhance the quality of life by providing affordable, safe, and well-managed housing solutions. TCB's portfolio and initiatives are driven by innovative development practices, community-centered approaches, and rigorous adherence to compliance and regulatory guidelines.
As part of TCB’s growing team, the role of Assistant Community Manager is critical to supporting the operational and administrative aspects of property management. This full-time, in-office position emphasizes a hands-on approach to leasing, compliance management, and delivering outstanding customer service to residents. Reporting directly to the Community Manager, the Assistant Community Manager helps to maintain high occupancy rates by effectively managing tenant applications, re-certifications, and monitoring market trends. The role demands proactive engagement to anticipate vacancies and foster resident retention, ensuring a welcoming and stable living environment.
The Assistant Community Manager also plays a key role in financial administration tasks such as posting rents, maintaining detailed resident account ledgers, processing invoices, and adhering to budget goals. A strong knowledge of regulatory programs, including Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) and Certificate of Occupancy (COS), is highly preferred to maintain compliance with federal housing laws and guidelines. This position requires excellent interpersonal skills for addressing resident concerns, coordinating with maintenance staff, and contributing to the overall success of the community through effective teamwork and leadership.
The ideal candidate will be well-versed in property management software such as Yardi and must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Candidates with certifications and experience in COS, LIHTC, or ARM® will have a competitive advantage. The Community Builders values continuous improvement, and the Assistant Community Manager will also assist in recruitment, training, and performance reviews of team members to promote a culture of accountability and excellence.
Compensation for this role ranges between $22 and $24 per hour, reflecting the organization's commitment to providing competitive wages within the nonprofit housing sector. The position requires five days a week in-office presence to facilitate collaboration and effective community management. As an equal opportunity employer, The Community Builders fosters an inclusive work environment where diversity is celebrated and all employees are empowered to contribute to the mission.
Join The Community Builders, Inc. and become part of a national leader dedicated to transforming affordable housing through responsive property management, community engagement, and strategic growth. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about making a meaningful difference through their professional skills in property management and customer service.
