Job Description
Sweetgreen is a dynamic and rapidly growing national restaurant brand that is dedicated to the mission of building healthier communities by connecting people to real food. Since its founding in 2007, Sweetgreen has reimagined fast food by focusing on fresh, flavorful ingredients that are locally sourced and rooted deeply in strong relationships with farmers and local communities. With a commitment to sustainability and wellness, Sweetgreen stands as a leading force in the fast casual dining space, offering an innovative menu that emphasizes organic, sustainable options thoughtfully prepared. The company operates across multiple locations nationwide and continues to expand its footprint while maintaining a genuine dedication to both product quality and community impact.
Working at Sweetgreen means joining a team that prioritizes not only the quality of the food and guest experience but also the development and growth of its people. The company fosters a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and continuous learning, offering employees clear career paths for personal and professional development. Sweetgreen also values diversity and equal opportunity employment, ensuring a workplace that supports every individual regardless of their background.
The role of Assistant Coach (Assistant General Manager) at Sweetgreen is a vital leadership position designed for hands-on leaders who are passionate about inspiring their teams and driving operational excellence. The Assistant Coach works closely with the Head Coach to create an environment where team members feel supported, motivated, and recognized as they deliver outstanding guest experiences. This position is responsible for partnering in hiring, onboarding, and training processes while maintaining high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and overall quality control.
As an Assistant Coach, you will actively engage in managing day-to-day store operations by anticipating operational needs, adjusting team deployment according to peak times or staffing gaps, and ensuring smooth execution of all processes. A major focus of this role is mentoring team members to cultivate future leaders by providing coaching and performance oversight. Your leadership will help uphold Sweetgreen's brand standards by maintaining cleanliness, food safety, and outstanding guest service in all interactions.
The Assistant Coach also plays a critical role in driving the financial and business success of the store by managing controllable costs, executing schedules accurately, and leveraging insights from operational data dashboards to make informed decisions. Maintaining strong operational systems, troubleshooting issues, and prioritizing tasks to ensure efficiency are also key aspects of the position.
This role requires a minimum commitment of 30 hours per week and offers a competitive base salary range of $58,000 to $68,000 USD annually, inclusive of up to 15% bonus potential. Sweetgreen supports their employees comprehensively through various benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid vacation and wellness time, 401(k) programs, paid family leave, complimentary greens, free company swag, and much more. By joining Sweetgreen as an Assistant Coach, you get the unique opportunity to make a lasting impact not only by advancing your career but by creating healthier communities through the power of real food and exceptional service.
