The Assistant Club Manager in Training (AMIT) role at BJ's Wholesale Club is a pivotal leadership development position designed to prepare promising individuals for advancement into one of several Assistant Club Manager roles: Merchandising, Perishables, or Member Experience. Working closely alongside the Club Manager, the AMIT provides strategic leadership within the club, overseeing daily operations particularly within their assigned departments. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 4 years of experience as retail store supermarket or warehouse operations manager
- ability to obtain and maintain ServSafe certification
- forklift operator certification required

Job Qualifications

- completion of company training program preferred
- high school diploma or college degree preferred
- basic computer knowledge including MS Word MS Excel and Email
- ability to obtain and maintain ServSafe certification

- at least 18 years of age
Job Duties
- Provide strategic department leadership partnering with club manager and other leaders to oversee daily operations across assigned departments emphasizing business acumen accountability team engagement and flawless execution of club standards
- Recruit hire and onboard team members managing full hiring process including interviewing staffing onboarding and certification
- Oversee labor planning and scheduling creating and managing effective labor schedules aligned with business trends sales patterns and budgetary targets adjusting coverage as needed
- Drive sales inventory control and shrink management leading execution of key operational processes to ensure in-stock conditions minimize shrink and drive sales performance
- Champion member experience standards modeling and enforcing greet anticipate appreciate GAA grand opening look daily GOLD and LAST service standards
- Execute operational readiness upholding close to open standards to ensure all departments are clean stocked safe and ready for business
- Lead department talent management conducting performance reviews mentoring future leaders and supporting development and succession planning
- Utilize tools and reporting for decision-making using club-specific tools such as production planning tools NAFS scorecards scheduling systems and reporting dashboards
- Ensure compliance and safety enforcing policies and procedures including food safety sanitation OSHA RIST and cold chain compliance leading audits and resolving operational issues
- Support special initiatives and transitions planning and executing merchandising transitions seasonal sets space resets and special projects
- Maintain equipment and facilities monitoring and escalating equipment issues
- Perform cross-functional support providing leadership support across merchandising perishables and frontline departments as needed
- Utilize BJ's MY WORK system executing daily tasks and initiatives via internal systems to support club compliance
- Operate equipment safely including forklift operation as required
- Maintain regular predictable full attendance demonstrating consistent presence
