The Assistant Chef position in Catering & Banquets at Wynn Resorts is a dynamic role that supports culinary management in various key operational areas. This position is instrumental in ensuring the delivery of high-quality food that meets Wynn’s esteemed food standards, contributing significantly to enhancing the overall customer culinary experience. The role involves comprehensive responsibilities including cost control, inventory management, food requisition processing, staff management, training, and direct supervision of food production at all kitchen stations. Assistant Chefs play a crucial role in supporting chefs de parties and cooks to maintain consistency and quality across all food offerings.

The role also demands strict adherence to government health regulations, industrial safety standards, corporate policies, department guidelines, and the Culinary Bargaining Agreement. The Assistant Chef helps to cultivate a safe and efficient working environment by enforcing these standards and actively identifying potential safety issues, ensuring a secure workplace for the entire team.

Operationally, the Assistant Chef maintains Wynn’s food quality benchmarks and continuously monitors to improve food consistency. They ensure that all staff have access to the latest policies to maintain safety and quality. By identifying and promptly addressing any operational challenges, the Assistant Chef plays a pivotal role in sustaining an excellent culinary environment. Team leadership is a major facet of the role, requiring mentoring, coaching, rewarding, and recognition activities that contribute to a motivated and capable kitchen team aligned with Wynn’s core values.

This position requires a minimum of three years’ culinary management experience in a similar role, with a preference for candidates holding culinary degrees and possessing knowledge of union work environments. Proficiency in English is essential, with additional languages seen as a plus. Essential certifications such as the Food Manager Certification and a valid health card are mandatory for this role.

Candidates must demonstrate strong knife skills, culinary creativity, efficient kitchen operation management, and the ability to work calmly under pressure. They should be adept at prioritizing tasks, meeting tight deadlines, and consistently producing high-quality dishes with attention to detail. The role also demands familiarity with using Microsoft Office and basic computer skills to efficiently manage administrative tasks related to the kitchen operation.

Job Requirements
