Job Description
HC-One is a prominent care home provider specializing in Dementia, Nursing, Residential, and Specialist Care, dedicated to delivering the kindest possible care to residents across the United Kingdom. Rooted deeply in values that emphasize kindness, compassion, creativity, courage, and dependability, HC-One has established itself as a leader in the healthcare industry through its commitment to supporting the individual needs of each resident. The company fosters an inclusive and respectful working environment where every employee is valued, encouraged, and empowered. They champion diversity, aiming to mirror the communities they serve, and prioritize a culture where all feel welcomed and included. HC-One continuously embraces innovation, including advancements in digital care planning technologies, enhancing the quality and efficiency of support provided to residents. The organization is committed to supporting the professional growth of their staff through comprehensive development programs, clear career progression pathways, and ongoing training opportunities, enabling team members to flourish at local, regional, and national levels. The role of Assistant Chef at HC-One is critical as it contributes directly to the wellbeing and satisfaction of residents through the provision of nutritious, appealing meals that meet their dietary needs and preferences. This position demands a strong knowledge of food hygiene, particularly at least a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate, and a comprehensive understanding of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP). Assistant Chefs at HC-One are expected not only to execute tasks efficiently but also to embody and promote the organization’s core values of kindness and respect in every interaction with residents and colleagues. Their duties encompass assisting and sometimes standing in for the First Chef, managing kitchen stock, optimizing budgetary resources, ensuring kitchen cleanliness, and providing guidance and coaching to fellow kitchen staff. Safeguarding is a paramount responsibility, with all staff trained to recognize and report any signs of abuse, harm, or neglect. HC-One offers rewarding employment with competitive pay rates based on experience and qualifications, along with a wide variety of benefits designed to support the physical and mental wellbeing of employees. These benefits include paid enhanced DBS checks, free uniforms, an attractive pension scheme, paid annual leave inclusive of bank holidays, life assurance, and innovative financial wellbeing tools like Wagestream. Staff also enjoy access to award-winning learning and development programs, digital GP consultations, employee assistance programs, extensive discount schemes, and recognition awards such as Kindness in Care and Long Service Awards. The Assistant Chef role is a unique opportunity for individuals who are passionate about culinary arts and compassionate care to make a significant positive impact within a supportive and dynamic team environment at HC-One. The company places a strong emphasis on hiring individuals who already have the right to work in the UK, as it does not offer visa sponsorships.
