Job Duties
- Trains, supervises and evaluates the work of cooks in performing their assigned duties
- contributes to job performance evaluations and recommends discipline of dietary staff to supervisor as necessary
- oversees the operation of the SYSC kitchen including food preparation and delivery, cleaning, and upkeep of the kitchen equipment and kitchen areas
- cooks or otherwise prepares food according to recipes, cuts, trims and slices meat and poultry for cooking
- helps bake rolls, desserts, etc. when necessary
- places orders for milk, baked goods and eggs directly to various vendors ensuring prompt delivery of goods
- compiles orders for food service supplies and kitchen cleaning materials
- compiles orders for frozen foods and vegetables and assists in monthly freezer inventory
- organizes and rotates foodstuffs in freezer to ensure highest quality available
- compiles goods in relation to special orders from departments (i.e. cookouts, court, GED testing, etc.)
- performs accountabilities in accordance with established safety policies and procedures
- communicates with supervisors regarding issues related to workplace safety
