Job Description
Donor Development Strategies (DDS) is a specialized company that focuses on professional canvassing and grassroots outreach efforts to support public media stations such as PBS and NPR. With a clear commitment to public media, DDS plays a crucial role in engaging communities and helping generate the necessary funding to sustain these valuable resources. DDS is headquartered in Albuquerque, where the team currently raises funds on behalf of New Mexico PBS. The company is known for its structured, year-round campaigns that provide stability and benefits to its employees, including a standard 40-hour workweek as well as comprehensive benefits like healthcare, vision, dental insurance, a 401(k) plan with automatic employer contributions, and paid time off.
DDS is currently hiring for the position of Assistant Canvass Director. This role is essential within the organization and requires a dynamic individual who can manage both the fundraising efforts in the field as well as the management of canvass staff. The Assistant Canvass Director will be responsible for leading and motivating the field team while maintaining high standards of professionalism and effectiveness. The nature of the job demands strong communication skills, the ability to organize and lead a team, as well as a passion for public media and community engagement. Successful candidates will enjoy competitive hourly wages starting at $23.00 per hour, eligibility for bonuses based on fundraising performance, and an end-of-campaign bonus.
The Assistant Canvass Director works in a fast-paced environment that involves canvassing 4 to 5 days each week, conducting field training sessions, and regular check-ins with staff members. They must be goal-oriented to meet and exceed fundraising and shift quotas. This role also includes important administrative responsibilities such as collecting and reporting operational data, managing and securing donor information, and ensuring all donations are accurately deposited with the client every evening. Maintaining organized and efficient office operations and handling routine administrative tasks are crucial for success.
Additionally, the Assistant Canvass Director acts as a liaison between the field team and upper management, effectively communicating with the Director Team and Project Manager. The job requires responsiveness and professionalism in all company-wide communications, including participation in scheduled meetings and updates. This professional environment requires the candidate to have strong public speaking, writing, and telephone skills. The ability to multi-task, remain detail-oriented, and manage time wisely under a tight schedule is essential.
Employees in this role must be comfortable with physical activity, including walking outdoors for up to five hours a day across various weather conditions and terrains, as well as working occasional Saturdays, holidays, and other days as necessary for campaign success. The combination of fieldwork and administrative duties makes this position well-suited for individuals who are energetic, adaptable, and committed to making a positive impact on public media outreach. DDS values its team members and offers a robust benefits package designed to support their health and financial well-being while fostering a positive team environment.
