The Food Service Assistant Manager role at Pioneer Trail Middle School is a full-time classified, non-exempt position that works 7 hours daily, from 7:00 am to 2:30 pm, across 167 calendar days annually. This position is vital in supporting and organizing food service activities within the school, ensuring the efficient operation of meal preparation and service while complying with health and safety standards. With an hourly pay rate of $18.00, the assistant manager acts as a key team leader tasked with assisting the Food Services Cafe Manager and overseeing food service staff. Primary responsibilities include confirming food quantities and quality, supervising food preparation, managing serving operations, and maintaining necessary documentation for regulatory compliance. This role helps schedule staff, acclimate new employees to school and work center processes, and manage financial transactions like processing receipts and bank deposits. The assistant manager also evaluates food appearance, flavor, and temperature to meet mandated nutritional requirements specified for students.

Job Duties
- Assists scheduling assignments and work hours for Food Service Staff
- Climatizes newly hired employees to work center and school site processes
- Completes and documents transactions, processes receipts, and prepares bank deposits
- Evaluates prepared food for appearance, flavor, and temperature
- Implements menu plans meeting students mandated daily nutritional requirements
- Inspects and inventories orders confirming quality, quantity, and specifications of orders
- Maintains a sanitary food service environment complying with current health standards
- Assists in managing food service operations to health and follows mandated standards
- Monitors food service operations to ensure a clean, safe, and sanitary work environment
- Oversees cooking, preparation, serving, and transportation of food and beverage items
- Prepares documentation in the form of records, reports, sheets, and summaries
- Responds to inquiries from the community, staff, and students regarding food services
- Perform other duties as assigned
