The Assistant Brewer position is a full-time role based in Cincinnati, OH, offering a competitive starting pay of $20 per hour, with a progression to $22.75 per hour upon the completion of training, including a $1 shift differential for third shift hours. This position is designed as a developmental opportunity for aspiring brewers, providing hands-on experience with a fully automated 60-barrel BrauKon brewhouse and extensive training in various brewing operations. The role entails learning and performing critical cellar tasks such as Clean-In-Place (CIP) procedures for fermentation vessels and bright beer tanks, managing cold-side ingredient additions, and operating specialized equipment like decanters, centrifuges, and carboblenders. Collaboration with teams across Quality Assurance/Quality Control, Maintenance, and Packaging departments is essential to maintain product quality and operational efficiency.

This role is ideal for candidates seeking to build foundational brewing skills and advance to a full Brewer position within the company. The Assistant Brewer will adhere strictly to standard operating procedures and safety protocols, contributing to a safe and organized work environment. The position requires flexibility with work schedules, including evenings, overnights, weekends, and a rotating shift pattern. Job Requirements

  • Flexible schedule to work evenings, overnights, and weekends
  • Ability to lift up to 55 pounds
  • Comfortable working in an industrial manufacturing environment including forklifts, chemicals, wet and loud areas
  • Willingness to train on different shifts including early mornings, afternoons, and overnight rotations
  • Commitment to adhering to safety protocols and company policies

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in a brewery or similar industrial manufacturing setting preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures and safety guidelines
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Desire to learn and grow within the brewing industry

Job Duties

  • Learn to operate a 60bbl fully automated BrauKon brewhouse and produce high quality wort within spec
  • Learn to perform CIPs of fermentation vessels and bright beer tanks both manually and using an automated CIP cart
  • Learn to add hops and other cold side ingredients to fermentation vessels
  • Learn to operate the cold side decanter to remove solids from beer
  • Learn to operate the Flottweg centrifuge, Pall Cross Flow and Pentair/GEA carboblenders to clarify, trim, and carbonate beer
  • Work collaboratively with QA/QC, Maintenance, and Packaging teams
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures and company safety training
