Job Description

The Ned is a prestigious global collection of hotels, clubs, spas, and restaurants designed for like-minded individuals to meet, work, and enjoy exceptional experiences. Established originally in London in 2017, The Ned has successfully expanded its unique and vibrant hospitality brand across several locations worldwide, most recently opening a members' club in the US capital, Washington DC. This marks the fourth Ned location and it's situated in the heart of the city's historic and bustling district, offering members and guests a captivating blend of luxury, comfort, and cultural richness.

The Ned's Club Washington DC is housed in the iconic Riggs Building, a neoclassical structure built in 1930, located just across from the US Treasury and around the corner from the White House. The club spans three floors of this 12-story landmark and boasts a Rooftop Terrace and Loft Restaurant with remarkable views of iconic Washington monuments such as the White House, US Treasury, and Washington Monument. It also features multiple elegant spaces, including a Founder’s Dining Room, The Library, Drawing Room, Gallery, and Conservatory, alongside a dedicated private events floor, providing an exclusive and versatile environment for members and guests to socialize, dine, and celebrate.

The Assistant Bar Manager role at Ned's Club Washington DC is a unique opportunity to join one of the premier hospitality teams in the city. This full-time position offers a competitive salary of up to $85,000 per year and involves supporting the bar operations in delivering exceptional beverage service and member experience. Reporting to the Head of Bars and Bar Manager, the Assistant Bar Manager will play a pivotal role in managing bar staff, overseeing inventory and stock control, supporting ongoing beverage program training, and ensuring all bar-related activity meets the high standards synonymous with The Ned.

As Assistant Bar Manager, you will be responsible for supervising and developing the bartenders and barbacks team, managing recruitment, training, scheduling, payroll, and addressing staff issues including disciplinary actions. You will also be involved in assessing performance, conducting appraisals, and strategizing improvements to ensure excellence in service delivery. Moreover, you will partner closely with the Bar Manager and head office on managing liquor stocks, costs, spillage, and vendor relations while ensuring that inventory levels align with business needs and budgets.

In addition, the role includes a significant focus on events, requiring collaboration with Event Coordinators and Sales Managers to plan and manage beverage offerings tailored to various private and club events. Ensuring compliance with safety and legal training such as TIP(S) for responsible alcohol service is a critical aspect of the position, fostering a safe and productive working environment.

The ideal candidate will bring proven supervisory or leadership experience within bar operations, with a passion for outstanding drinks, service excellence, and effective people management. Familiarity with cocktail and wine knowledge is highly valued, along with a creative flair to contribute to signature cocktails and participate in exciting team competitions. WSET qualification is preferred and experience in managing beverage inventory is essential to maintaining the high standards The Ned expects. The Ned provides an inclusive and dynamic work atmosphere, emphasizing diversity, equity, and inclusion, ensuring it is one of the best places to build a rewarding hospitality career.
