This role is an entry-level management position focused on supporting the banquet operations at Gaylord National Resort. The banquet manager assists with leading the banquet staff and executes events to meet the high standards expected by our clients and guests. This position involves hands-on leadership, ensuring smooth event delivery while maintaining service excellence and operational efficiency. Key responsibilities include managing departmental inventories, maintaining sanitation and service standards, scheduling staff, and providing direct support during event service. The banquet manager also plays a vital role in guest relations, encouraging feedback and handling complaints to improve service quality continuously.

The candidate will actively participate in team meetings, lead event shifts, and contribute to the professional development of staff by providing feedback and facilitating training. This role demands a proactive approach to inventory management, including supplies and beverage control, to optimize costs and maximize profitability. The banquet manager is also responsible for enforcing adherence to all procedures, policies, and safety regulations within the department, ensuring a secure and compliant work environment.

Job Requirements

High school diploma or GED
2 years experience in event management, food and beverage, or related professional area
Ability to work full time on site
Strong leadership skills
Excellent communication skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks
Proficiency in maintaining inventory and service standards
Capacity to respond to guest concerns
Knowledge of safety and sanitation protocols
Willingness to participate in team meetings and training

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

Assist in managing departmental inventories and assets including par levels and maintenance of equipment
Maintain attendance log for banquet employees
Maintain and enforce established sanitation levels
Adhere to and reinforce all standards, policies, and procedures
Ensure employee awareness of the event phase portion of the meeting planner survey and guest satisfaction scores
Order supplies for the department such as china, glass, silver, buffet presentations, props, and other service equipment
Use banquet beverage use records to guide banquet beverage supervisor in controlling liquor costs and managing inventory
Understand the impact banquet operations have on the overall success of an event and manage activities to maximize customer satisfaction
Assist in scheduling banquet service staff to forecast and service standards while maximizing profits
Attend and participate in all pertinent meetings
Lead shifts and actively participate in servicing events
Apply and broaden knowledge of food and wine pairings and event presentation
Set a positive example for guest relations
Interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels
Respond to and handle guest problems and complaints
Empower employees to provide excellent customer service
Strive to improve service performance
Support departmental orientation programs for new employees
Ensure employees understand expectations and parameters
Observe service behaviors of employees and provide feedback
Review comment cards and guest satisfaction results with employees
Communicate and execute departmental and property emergency procedures and ensure staff are trained in safety procedures
