The role of Assistant Banquet/Event Services Manager is an integral position within the Hyatt Regency Tamaya team. This leadership role supports the Banquet Manager by overseeing the full execution of events from setup through completion, ensuring that every function runs seamlessly and meets the high standards of Hyatt Regency Tamaya’s hospitality. The Assistant Manager plays a significant role in maintaining the resort's reputation for excellence by managing event operations, supervising team members, and delivering a polished, professional presence that reflects the warm hospitality and cultural spirit unique to Tamaya.
This position is responsible for coordinating all event details, from initial setup and service flow to breakdown and cleanup, working closely with various departments including culinary and audiovisual services to ensure a flawless guest experience. The Assistant Banquet/Event Services Manager leads and mentors a team of banquet servers, housemen, bartenders, and support staff, promoting a culture of respect, inclusion, and continuous learning. They conduct pre-shift meetings to align the team on event expectations, safety protocols, and service standards. Additionally, the role involves liaison responsibilities serving as the on-site contact for meeting planners, wedding coordinators, and event hosts, promptly responding to client requests and real-time adjustments to guarantee satisfaction and smooth event operations.
Operational and administrative duties are also part of the role, encompassing inventory control, equipment and linen management, labor cost management, payroll support, scheduling, and ensuring health, safety, and sanitation compliance. Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- 1-3 years of banquet, event services, or hospitality leadership experience
- ability to stand for extended periods and walk moderate distances
- ability to lift, push, and pull approximately 50 pounds
- flexible availability including weekends and holidays
- proficiency in basic computer skills
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- willingness to work outdoors

Job Duties
- Oversee all event setups, service flow, and breakdowns according to executive order specifications
- Ensure event spaces are prepared accurately, on time, and in alignment with Hyatt Regency Tamaya standards
- Monitor event progress, resolve issues quickly, and ensure a seamless guest experience from arrival to departure
- Coordinate with culinary, audiovisual, and other departments to maintain smooth operations
- Supervise banquet servers, housemen, bartenders, and support staff throughout the event lifecycle
- Assist with training, coaching, scheduling, and performance feedback
- Lead pre-shift meetings to communicate event details, service expectations, and safety reminders
- Serve as the on-site contact for meeting planners, wedding coordinators, and event hosts
- Respond promptly to client requests and make real-time adjustments as needed
- Maintain a polished, professional presence throughout each event
- Assist with inventory control, equipment management, and linen/ware usage
