The Assistant Bakery Manager at Sprouts Farmers Market plays a vital leadership role in ensuring the bakery department runs smoothly and efficiently. This full-time position involves assisting the Bakery Manager to oversee daily operations, manage the bakery staff, and maintain high standards of product quality and customer satisfaction. The Assistant Bakery Manager will be responsible for ordering inventory, merchandising baked goods, executing product rotation, and maintaining bakery equipment. Job Requirements

  • be at least 18 years of age
  • have a minimum of two years' retail grocery experience
  • have two years supervisory experience
  • be dependable and reliable
  • have the ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • have an outgoing and friendly behavior
  • have good communication skills
  • be able to answer phones and take special orders
  • be able to perform general housekeeping and sanitation
  • be able to operate bakery equipment and tools
  • be physically able to stand and handle trays and items for extended periods
  • adhere to safety, health, and weights and measures regulations
  • maintain a valid food handlers permit

Job Qualifications

  • be at least 18 years of age with a minimum of two years' retail grocery experience and two years supervisory experience
  • be dependable and reliable having the ability to work flexible schedule that changes, including night, weekends, and holidays
  • have and show an outgoing and friendly behavior, have a positive attitude and the ability to interact with our customers
  • have good communication skills
  • and the ability to give and take direction participating in a team environment
  • be able to answer phones and take special orders
  • perform general housekeeping in the department
  • clean and sanitize work area (including tables, floor, walls, cases, cooler, freezer, etc.)
  • be able to operate and use knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks as needed
  • uses knowledge of scales and weight measures to accurately weigh and label products
  • be able to stand for up to 3 hours continuously, for a total of 8 hours per shift
  • be able to vertically transfer tray up to 5 lbs., from 7" to 64" for up to 10 hours, and vertically/horizontally transfer items up to 40 lbs., from 5" to 36", for a distance up to 36 feet for up to 10 hours without mechanical assistance
  • adhere to all safety, health, and weights and measures regulations, and achieve and maintain a food handlers permit

Job Duties

  • assist the bakery manager in managing and merchandising the department for maximum productivity and profit
  • responsible for ordering and inventory controls, product quality, and supervision of the bakery team
  • execute rotation of merchandise and building of displays
  • monitor in-coming cases for damaged items
  • ensure the delivery of excellent customer service and monitor the quality of bakery product
  • unload and sort through store deliveries, operate, and maintain deli equipment
  • ensure the execution of all company health, safety, and sanitation guidelines/regulations, and validate that other bakery team members are also aware of, and following, these procedures
