As an Assistant Bakery Manager at Sprouts Farmers Market, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction by managing and leading the Bakery team alongside the Bakery Manager. This full-time position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about baking and prepared foods like cookies, bread, and muffins, using trusted recipes and high-quality ingredients. The role demands a balance between hands-on baking tasks and supervisory responsibilities, including merchandising, inventory control, and customer service. You will assist in managing daily operations within the bakery department to maximize productivity, product quality, and team performance. Responsibilities include overseeing team members, maintaining health and safety regulations, executing product rotation and display building, managing orders and inventory, and ensuring the bakery products meet Sprouts’ high standards.

The Assistant Bakery Manager must be adaptable and thrive in a fast-paced environment, capable of balancing customer service excellence with operational efficiency. This role requires a dependable individual who can work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Physical demands include standing for extended periods, transferring trays and other bakery items, and operating various equipment such as scales, knives, wrappers, and pallet jacks. Safety and sanitation are prioritized to meet all company health guidelines.

The pay range for this role is $16.30 to $22.80 per hour, determined by the candidate’s experience and qualifications. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • be at least 18 years of age
  • minimum of two years' retail grocery experience
  • minimum of two years supervisory experience
  • dependable and reliable with ability to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays

  • capable of performing general housekeeping and sanitation duties
  • ability to operate bakery equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks

  • ability to lift and transfer bakery items up to 40 lbs.
  • adherence to food safety and health regulations
  • maintenance of Food Handlers permit

Job Qualifications

  • be at least 18 years of age with a minimum of two years' retail grocery experience and two years supervisory experience
  • be dependable and reliable having the ability to work flexible schedule that changes, including night, weekends, and holidays
  • have and show an outgoing and friendly behavior, have a positive attitude and the ability to interact with our customers
  • have good communication skills
  • and the ability to give and take direction participating in a team environment
  • be able to answer phones and take special orders
  • perform general housekeeping in the department
  • clean and sanitize work area (including tables, floor, walls, cases, cooler, freezer, etc.)
  • be able to operate and use knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks as needed
  • use knowledge of scales and weight measures to accurately weigh and label products
  • be able to stand for up to 3 hours continuously, for a total of 8 hours per shift
  • be able to vertically transfer tray up to 5 lbs., from 7” to 64” for up to 10 hours, and vertically/horizontally transfer items up to 40 lbs., from 5” to 36”, for a distance up to 36 feet for up to 10 hours without mechanical assistance
  • adhere to all safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations
  • achieve and maintain a Food Handlers permit

Job Duties

  • assist the bakery manager in managing and merchandising the department for maximum productivity and profit
  • be responsible for ordering and inventory controls, product quality, and supervision of the bakery team
  • execute rotation of merchandise and building of displays
  • monitor in-coming cases for damaged items
  • ensure the delivery of excellent customer service and monitor the quality of bakery product
  • unload and sort through store deliveries, operate, and maintain deli equipment
  • ensure the execution of all company health, safety, and sanitation guidelines/regulations, and validate that other bakery team members are also aware of, and following, these procedures
