The open position is for a Bakery Associate located at 15260 Kutztown Road Suite 2. As a Bakery Associate, the role involves a blend of customer service, baking skills, and supervisory responsibilities to contribute to the successful daily operations of the bakery department within the store. This role requires someone who is customer-focused, able to handle bakery product preparation and decoration, and capable of overseeing day-to-day bakery activities including inventory management, associate scheduling, and merchandising.

The ideal candidate will be involved in promoting excellent customer relations by greeting customers, responding to inquiries, and resolving any issues with professionalism and a positive attitude. They will be tasked with taking customer orders in person or over the phone, focusing on their preferences for size, flavor, and appearance, and then producing finished bakery products accordingly. Bakery Associates will also use various decorating techniques, adhering closely to company recipes to ensure consistent quality and appearance of cakes, pastries, and other baked goods.

This role includes assisting the Bakery Manager with operational tasks like merchandising, ad execution, employee training, and engagement activities. The associate also plays a key role in inventory monitoring, ensuring that deliveries are checked, product quality is maintained, and product rotation policies are enforced to guarantee freshness. Financial responsibility is emphasized through careful control of expenses, labor costs, and prevention of product loss through spoilage or damage.

Supervisory duties are integral to this position, including overseeing bakery associates, scheduling shifts, delegating work, and contributing to performance recognition programs. The Bakery Associate is expected to foster a cooperative work environment and continuously strive to improve operational efficiencies and job performance.

Job Duties

  • Promotes excellent customer relations by instilling positive customer focused behavior with associates
  • Smiles and greets customers, answers customer questions and helps resolve customer issues promptly in a polite and professional manner
  • Takes customer orders over the phone or in person at the store with a pleasant and positive attitude
  • Decorates cakes and other bakery products using dye, specific designs or by creating custom designs
  • Assists Bakery Manager in day-to-day functions of Bakery operations such as merchandising, ad execution, associate engagement and customer service
  • Oversees department inventories by tracking weekly sales reports, product orders and supplies to ensure successful period-end physical inventory
  • Assists with scheduling all Bakery associates, participates in training, rewards and recognizes performance and delegates work assignments
  • Develops and implements merchandising plans that meet financial goals
  • Checks and verifies all department deliveries and invoices to ensure accurate billing
  • Controls department expenses by improving operations and efficiencies, controls labor costs and reduces losses
  • Keeps bakery department well stocked and appealing to meet customer demand
  • Ensures that merchandise is fresh, in saleable condition and properly priced with the correct signage
  • May assist with the production of breads, pastries and other baked goods
  • Ensures smooth workflow within department by cooperating with co-workers and superiors
  • Responsible for utilization of all company provided personal protected equipment
  • May also be called upon to assist in other departments
