The current opportunity available is for an Associate at the 552 State Street location, focused on bakery operations. This role is essential in promoting excellent customer relations by delivering friendly, knowledgeable service and ensuring top-quality bakery products. The Associate will handle a variety of tasks including taking orders, decorating cakes and other bakery items, assisting with inventory management, helping schedule fellow associates, and maintaining the overall appearance and workflow of the bakery department. This position plays a vital role in helping the Bakery Manager oversee daily activities and, when necessary, assumes managerial duties in their absence.
The successful candidate will engage extensively with customers, providing personalized assistance and resolving issues promptly while maintaining a positive attitude. Cake decorating and product preparation are key components of the job, required to adhere strictly to company-approved recipes and high presentation standards. Furthermore, the Associate will contribute to merchandising plans designed to meet financial objectives and maintain product freshness and quality through accurate receiving, proper storage, and systematic rotation.

Safety compliance is also critical, including the correct usage of personal protective equipment (PPE). Job Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
- minimum 2 years' experience in management in retail, restaurant, supermarket environment
- previous decorating experience preferred
- ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily with or without accommodation
- knowledge of company approved recipes and production logs
- ability to use personal protective equipment (PPE)
- strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills

Job Duties
- Promotes excellent customer relations by instilling positive customer focused behavior with associates
- smiles and greets customers, answers customer questions and helps resolve customer issues promptly in a polite and professional manner
- takes customer orders over the phone or in person at the store with a pleasant and positive attitude
- decorates cakes and other bakery products using dye, specific designs or by creating custom designs
- assists Bakery Manager in day-to-day functions of Bakery operations such as merchandising, ad execution, associate engagement and customer service
- oversees department inventories by tracking weekly sales reports, product orders and supplies
- assists with scheduling all Bakery associates, participates in training, rewards and recognizes performance and delegates work assignments
- develops and implements merchandising plans that meet financial goals
- checks and verifies all department deliveries and invoices to ensure accurate billing
- controls department expenses by improving operations and efficiencies
- keeps bakery department well stocked and appealing to meet customer demand
- ensures that merchandise is fresh, in saleable condition and properly priced with the correct signage
- may assist with the production of breads, pastries and other baked goods
- ensures smooth workflow within department by cooperating with co-workers and superiors
- responsible for utilization of all company provided Personal Protected Equipment
- may also be called upon to assist in other departments
