One of the signature offerings of Fresh Baguette is their baguette, made using a special cold-dough process that enhances the flavor profile, using a homemade "levain" starter and state-of-the-art equipment imported directly from France. The process is meticulous, involving two days and 11 steps to bring the authentic moisture and perfectly crunchy texture found in the best French baguettes. Fresh Baguette is currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Baker to join their Mixing department at the Fresh Baguette Germantown production center located at 19548 Amaranth Drive, Germantown, MD 20874. This full-time, hourly position offers an entry-level opportunity perfect for individuals eager to begin their professional baking careers. The role provides comprehensive training from expert bakers, ensuring the candidate will learn the art and science behind highly regarded artisanal organic breads. The pay rate is $17.65 per hour.
The Assistant Baker will be an integral part of the production team, responsible for preparing dough, shaping bread, and operating commercial bakery equipment such as ovens, loaders, proofers, and dough mixers. Maintaining hygienic conditions and adhering to food safety standards is paramount in this role. Candidates must exhibit reliability, punctuality, and a willingness to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
This position requires open availability, including weekends and peak holiday periods like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Fourth of July, with typical shifts running from 6 AM to 3 PM, five days a week, and totaling between 32 to 38 hours. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
- Open availability to work a variety of shifts, including weekends, mornings, and afternoons
- Availability to work on busy peak periods such as holidays - Thanksgiving, Christmas, Fourth of July, etc.
- Ability to perform heavy work such as lifting 50lbs+, bending, reaching, and standing for 8hours+
- Reliable transportation to work
- Reading, writing, speaking, listening comprehension proficiency in English

Job Duties

- Operate commercial bakery equipment, including ovens, loaders, proofers, and dough mixers
- Work efficiently and quickly to meet production targets and deadlines
- Ensure strict adherence to food safety guidelines and hygiene practices during all operations
