Job Description

We are currently seeking an Assistant Baker to join our dynamic team. This role is integral to supporting the Executive Pastry Chef by preparing pastries, desserts, and baked goods for a variety of occasions including retail sales, farmers' markets, catering events, weddings, and more. The Assistant Baker plays a key role in ensuring that all products are crafted according to curated recipes and instructions while maintaining cost-effective production and adhering to health and safety standards. Beyond baking, this position requires flexibility to assist with front-of-house operations, engaging warmly with guests, managing drink stations, and helping with facility upkeep tasks such as dishwashing and cleaning.

The ideal candidate for the Assistant Baker position is someone who not only loves baking but also enjoys interacting with guests and working collaboratively on a team. Reliability, proactivity, and attention to detail are essential traits, as is the ability to efficiently complete tasks while maintaining a safe and sanitary workstation. This position offers a consistent work schedule with seven-hour shifts from Wednesday through Saturday, a competitive hourly wage starting at $16 plus shared tips, paid training, and opportunities for advancement within the company. Job Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience working as a pastry cook or baker in a bakery, hotel, restaurant, country club or other similar industry producing pastries, desserts and bread from scratch
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions in English and communicate effectively
  • Working knowledge of kitchen equipment operations and maintenance
  • Understand measurements, conversions, and production schedules
  • Comfortable working independently as well as with others
  • Able to finish tasks quickly and efficiently
  • Must be able to provide a pastry portfolio
  • Ability to lift and carry 30 lbs
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Available for 7 hour shifts, Wednesday through Saturday, 8am to 3:30pm, weekends are a must

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Prepares pastries, baked goods, and desserts for retail, farmers' markets, catering, events, weddings, and more under the guidance of the Executive Pastry Chef
  • Prepares all desserts according to curated recipes and instructions
  • Organizes pastry production in a cost-effective manner and in accordance with health and safety standards
  • Maintains assigned workstation in a safe and sanitary condition
  • Complies with standards for personal hygiene and dress code
  • Operates and maintains kitchen tools and equipment properly
  • Restocks bakery display as needed
  • Assists with front-of-house operations including guest greeting, food and drink order taking, and answering phones
  • Performs facilities upkeep such as dishwashing, bussing, and daily cleaning
