The position of Assistant Kitchen Manager at White Pines Golf Club & Banquets is a crucial role responsible for supporting the day-to-day kitchen operations across the entire property. This full-time role offers a salary range between $48,000 to $55,000 and requires working evenings, weekends, and holidays with hours varying based on business needs. The Assistant Kitchen Manager reports to the restaurant managers and plays a pivotal role in maintaining high standards of food quality, sanitation, and kitchen organization. This position demands leadership skills, a passion for food preparation, and the ability to manage food service for diverse settings including banquet events and golf course food services.

In this role, the Assistant Kitchen Manager will ensure the preparation of various foods according to manager instructions while adhering strictly to food sanitation and quality control guidelines. They will also be responsible for managing buffet setups, presentations, and breakdowns for indoor and outdoor events, ensuring smooth and efficient food service according to event schedules. Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation throughout the kitchen and back-of-house areas, including cleaning of equipment, refrigerators, storage rooms, and shelving, is another vital aspect of the job to ensure compliance with health standards. The role involves receiving deliveries, verifying order accuracy, and organizing supplies efficiently to support kitchen operations.

The Assistant Kitchen Manager will assist in the monthly inventory processes and perform other duties as assigned by supervisory staff. This position requires someone with 1 to 3 years of experience working in a high-volume kitchen, preferably with some prior supervisory experience to help lead kitchen staff and maintain workflow. Candidates must possess or obtain Illinois Food/Sanitation certifications within one month of hire and demonstrate the ability to work flexible hours especially during the golf season. Physical requirements include lifting heavy objects over 50 pounds and operating kitchen equipment safely. A valid driver's license is also necessary.

Job Duties

  • Responsible for preparing a variety of foods as instructed by the manager and cook and in compliance with established food sanitation and quality control guidelines
  • Arrange prepare and break down indoor and outdoor buffet and food displays as required by the event schedule
  • Keep kitchen clean and organized before during and after shift
  • Sanitize cooking equipment and entire back of house cooking area including refrigerators freezers storeroom shelving walls and cabinets according to established procedure
  • Receive deliveries and check orders for accuracy
  • Organize received items in appropriate locations
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by assistant or pm restaurant manager
  • Assist in monthly inventory
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor
