The role of an EOCC Assembly Technician at Wabtec's Kansas City location focuses on precision assembly and disassembly operations within the production line. This position requires working closely with the EOCC team, supervisors, line leads, quality, safety, maintenance, and other departments to ensure smooth coordination and timely completion of tasks that meet stringent production targets. The technician is responsible for utilizing hand tools, power tools, fixturing, and following detailed work instructions to accurately rebuild components and equipment to technical specifications. Critical to this position is the ability to interpret product prints, technical drawings, and detailed assembly documentation, ensuring that every assembled component meets Wabtec’s high standards for quality, safety, and process adherence.

The EOCC Assembly Technician’s work schedule is generally from Monday to Thursday, 5:00 am to 3:30 pm, with a possible need for overtime on Fridays and Saturdays, demonstrating the role’s flexibility and dedication to operational demands. This role operates in a fast-paced production environment where each process contributes to the success of the next, making attention to detail and consistent adherence to safety protocols essential. Physical demands include the ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly as well as standing for extended periods throughout the shift, reflecting the hands-on, active nature of the role. The workplace environment is a non-temperature-controlled shop with exposure to varying conditions, which candidates must be prepared to adapt to.

Beyond technical and physical requirements, Wabtec seeks candidates who exhibit strong communication and collaboration skills, problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to meticulously follow written and verbal instructions in English. Candidates should be comfortable with the use of specialized hand, pneumatic, and power tools and have basic mechanical knowledge, with preferred experience including mechanical training and a background in heavy manufacturing or similar assembly and disassembly tasks. Basic computer skills are advantageous but not mandatory.
