The Assembler II - Valves 2nd Shift position is a vital role within the manufacturing team, responsible for assembling components and final products related to valve products used in aerospace and electronics. This position reports to supervisors and operates under close supervision while performing a defined set of assembly tasks. The role requires adherence to strict assembly standards, including those mandated by military and FDA regulations, with an emphasis on precision, quality, and safety. The assembler works with various specialized equipment such as Die Attach Machines, Wire Bonders, X-Ray machines, and microscopes. The responsibilities include preparing components, inspecting and cleaning parts, assembling subassemblies and complete assemblies, and performing tests on finished products.

This is a second shift position, with working hours from 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm. Employees working this shift play a critical role in maintaining continuous production flow and meeting production deadlines. The role occasionally requires flexibility to work overtime as needed. This is a physically and mentally demanding role that requires manual dexterity, excellent hand-eye coordination, and adequate vision capabilities including color, near, and depth perception.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2-5 years of small component assembly experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of raw materials and production processes
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in reading comprehension of English language documents
  • Basic computer skills
  • Adequate vision capabilities including color, near, and depth perception
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to interpret production or engineering prints and assembly aids
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume setting
  • Eligibility to work as a US person due to ITAR regulations
  • Willingness to work the 2nd shift from 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm
  • Ability to stand and sit for varying percentages during the shift
  • Ability to lift and push up to 40 pounds
  • Willingness to wear required personal protective equipment
  • Ability to operate microscopes and soldering equipment

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2-5 years of small component assembly experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and manufacturing techniques
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in reading comprehension of English work-related documents
  • Basic computer skills
  • Accurate color vision, near vision, and depth perception
  • Manipulative skills including finger and manual dexterity
  • Adept hand-eye coordination and arm-hand steadiness
  • Ability to interpret production or engineering prints, production planning information, and assembly aids such as illustrations and wiring diagrams
  • Ability to work well in a moderate to high paced, high volume work environment
  • IPC Soldering Certification (preferred)

Job Duties

  • Perform assigned assembly tasks subassemblies or completed assemblies
  • Prepare components prior to assembly, clean components, mark, and inspect components
  • Test finished assemblies
  • Operate assigned equipment and machinery such as Die Attach Machine, Wire Bonder, X-Ray machines
  • Observe proper health and safety procedures in handling hazardous chemicals
  • Identify and report any difficulty affecting the quality of work in process to lead or supervisor
  • Participate in cleaning of area and machinery and take part in team meetings for improvement
  • Practice safe work habits as established by OSHA and Crane policy
  • Cross-train to work on at least one process within the cell
  • Complete job-related company training courses
  • Support Crane Business System initiatives including 5S, Standard Work, and other initiatives as they arise
  • Be flexible and willing to work overtime if necessary
  • Perform operation of a microscope for up to 8 hours a day
  • Any other task assigned by supervisor or management
