Northrop Grumman’s Mission Systems sector, based in Buffalo, New York, is seeking an Assembler 3 to join its Amherst Systems team, focusing on the development and production of advanced simulation system solutions. This role entails working in a clean and modern facility, where innovation and quality are paramount. The Assembler 3 will play a vital role in assembling electronic components and systems following detailed drawings, diagrams, and job aids to meet stringent customer and industry requirements. Responsibilities include fine-pitch soldering, BGA rework, microelectronics assembly, electromechanical assembly, wire harness fabrication, and more, demonstrating the diverse and technical nature of the work. The assembler will operate basic production equipment safely, perform continuity checks, inspect workmanship, record production data, and collaborate closely with technicians, engineers, and supervisors to improve processes and tooling efficiency. Maintaining adherence to safety, ESD, FOD, and cleanliness standards is critical to ensuring a safe and compliant work environment.

Candidates for this role are expected to have at least four years of assembly or electronics experience or an associate degree in a related technical discipline. Proficiency with Class 2 level soldering, the ability to interpret written directions and drawings, and flexibility to adapt to changing job responsibilities are essential. Additionally, physical capability to move objects up to 40 pounds and basic computer skills using Microsoft Office applications are required. U.S. citizenship is mandatory for this position.

Preferred qualifications include certifications such as IPC-610 and J-STD 001, experience with microscopic assembly work, microelectronics or chip and wire assembly, and familiarity with automated equipment like Surface Mount Technology. Candidates who are self-directed, team-oriented, and able to provide excellent customer service while potentially traveling to customer sites will thrive in this role. Flexibility to work second shift when required and willingness to travel are also valued qualities.
