We are currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Housekeeping Assistant / Room Attendant to join our team. This role is integral in upholding the cleanliness and orderliness of guest rooms and public areas within the hotel. The ideal candidate will be responsible for cleaning and stocking rooms according to set standards, changing linens, dusting, vacuuming, bathroom sanitation, and managing supplies. Beyond routine cleaning duties, this role fosters a warm and inviting atmosphere where guests feel secure and confident in the hygiene of their accommodations.
As a Housekeeping Assistant, you will be expected to maintain a positive and optimistic attitude, providing excellent customer service while adhering to brand-approved uniforms and professional conduct. Confidentiality plays a key role in this position as you will be entrusted with guests' private spaces and information, requiring a high level of trustworthiness.
The role demands a professional sense of urgency, ensuring that rooms are serviced promptly and efficiently to meet established benchmarks for cleaning times. You will communicate regularly with the Head of Housekeeping to report room status and ensure smooth operations within the department. Greeting guests warmly and respecting all health and safety regulations are vital components of the job. Training and adherence to OSHA and other safety guidelines, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals, are mandatory to maintain workplace safety.
Organization skills are essential to keep cleaning carts, storage areas, and equipment such as vacuum cleaners in optimal condition. Collaboration and communication within the housekeeping team are encouraged through participation in daily meetings and ongoing training sessions. This role also involves assisting with seasonal deep cleans, managing lost and found items according to company policies, supporting new staff training, and contributing to a positive work environment.
Knowledge of hotel services, including food and beverage and recreational offerings, will enhance your ability to provide exceptional guest support. Job Duties
- maintain a positive and optimistic attitude with a desire to provide excellent customer service and cleanliness to our guests
- maintain a high level of professional appearance and behavior by wearing brand-approved uniform and name tag as required
- maintain the highest level of confidentiality in all areas to provide guests with the highest level of trust in our housekeeping staff
- demonstrate a professional sense of urgency when in rooms and public spaces to promptly fulfill budgeted objectives for minutes per room
- clean and stock all assigned rooms including changing linens, replacing supplies, dusting, vacuuming, storing supplies, emptying trash, cleaning bathrooms, toilets, bathtubs, and sinks
- keep the head of housekeeping informed on room status in a timely manner
- greet guests as encountered throughout the property
- strictly comply with all federal, state, local, and brand health, safety, and sanitation guidelines
- fully trained in all safety, alcohol, health and safety areas and ensure compliance with OSHA and other safety regulations
- adhere to safe chemical handling procedures as per manufacturer instructions
- keep workspaces, storage rooms, and cleaning carts clean, organized, and stocked including equipment like vacuum cleaners
- work in an organized manner following step-by-step processes
- observe and report the condition of furniture, walls, moldings, carpeting and appliances following hotel policies
- maintain open communication lines within housekeeping department and participate in daily meetings and staff gatherings
- adhere to key control guidelines
- assist with annual, quarterly, spring and autumn deep cleaning tasks as assigned
- manage lost and found items following company procedures
- assist in training new personnel
- participate in and support a positive and pleasant work environment
- have knowledge of hotel products and services such as food and beverage and recreation
- perform other duties as assigned
