This position is for an Asian Specialty Cook, a role crucial in delivering authentic and high-quality Asian cuisine within various meal periods including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and catered special events. The role is full-time, offering an hourly wage range of $27.00 to $30.00, with scheduled work hours from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm Monday through Friday. This professional culinary role demands precision, efficiency, and creativity in preparing a broad spectrum of East Asian and Southeast Asian dishes such as Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Thai cuisine. The Asian Specialty Cook will work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure cleanliness, safety, and adherence to strict food safety guidelines including HACCP protocols. The candidate must be adaptable to differing business needs across various accounts and demonstrate excellent teamwork and communication skills.

The successful candidate will have a passion for guest service and engagement, a positive attitude especially during busy and changing conditions, and the ability to anticipate and meet guests' needs effectively. Operating large volume culinary equipment safely and maintaining strict standards for kitchen organization, cleanliness, and workplace safety are vital parts of the job. This role also includes responsibilities such as preparing food according to standardized recipes, managing cooking stations independently, and contributing to the overall operational success by adhering to company policies and government regulatory requirements.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of three years professional cooking experience or equivalent culinary education
  • Knowledge of East Asian and Southeast Asian cuisines
  • Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings
  • Capacity to lift up to 35 pounds and stand for extended periods
  • Compliance with health safety environment and quality policies and procedures
  • Ability to operate large kitchen equipment safely
  • Effective communication skills and teamwork capability
  • Must adhere to dress code and workplace standards

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years professional cooking experience or equivalent education
  • Knowledge and experience in East Asian and Southeast Asian cuisine including Chinese Japanese Korean and Thai dishes
  • Ability to manage a cooking station independently including prep production customer interaction cooking to order and batch cooking
  • Culinary degree preferred but not required
  • Experience in scratch-cooking culinary positions exceeding three years
  • Experience in multiple high-volume service platforms such as hotels fine dining banquets catering and corporate dining
  • Practical experience in international cuisines
  • Strong hospitality focus and customer service orientation

Job Duties

  • Accurately and efficiently fulfill prep lists tasks and food preparation for multiple meal periods including breakfast lunch dinner and special events
  • Maintain kitchen organization and cleanliness ensuring a safe environment for employees and guests
  • Follow workplace safety guidelines policies and SOPs daily
  • Adhere to food safety guidelines policies and SOPs including HACCP daily
  • Operate large volume culinary equipment safely including slicers mixers food processors blenders and choppers
  • Clock in and out for workdays and breaks punctually
  • Communicate effectively with management regarding ingredient discrepancies equipment safety and other pertinent issues
