Job Description
Fearrington Village is a charming English-inspired destination nestled in the picturesque countryside of North Carolina, just 15 minutes from Chapel Hill. This unique community is renowned for its thoughtful hospitality and a genuine sense of place that defines every visitor's experience. Established as a proud member of the prestigious Relais & Chateaux network since 1980, Fearrington Village offers an exceptional blend of Southern charm, refinement, and warmth. The village is home to an award-winning restaurant, the Fearrington House Restaurant, which is celebrated for its refined Southern hospitality and exceptional culinary offerings. In addition to the restaurant, the property features a luxury 32-room inn, a spa, boutique shops, a beer and pizza garden, elegant event spaces, and one of North Carolina's last remaining independent bookstores. Together, these elements contribute to making Fearrington Village not just a destination but a vibrant and welcoming community dedicated to creating memorable experiences for every guest.
The Fearrington House Restaurant is currently seeking a talented and dedicated Artisanal Baker to join its esteemed culinary team. This full-time position calls for a professional baker who is passionate about traditional baking methods and skilled in producing high-quality breads and pastries. As an artisan baker at Fearrington House, you will be responsible for crafting a diverse range of bread and pastry products, including sourdoughs, yeasted breads, specialty loaves, and laminated dough pastries such as croissants, pain au chocolat, danish, and other seasonal viennoiserie. Attention to technical skill, quality, and consistency is crucial to maintain the restaurant's world-class standards. The role also involves managing the delicate fermentation, proofing, and baking processes with precision, ensuring that all baked goods meet the exceptional quality and presentation standards that guests expect.
The position demands a hardworking individual with a strong technical background, an eye for detail, and a commitment to excellence. Collaboration with both the pastry and culinary teams is essential, supporting the restaurant’s daily service and special events. In addition to baking skills, candidates must maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe work environment, ensuring compliance with food safety standards. The role may require working early mornings and weekends, reflecting the operational needs of the restaurant. The employment package includes competitive hourly compensation based on experience and a comprehensive benefits package available after a 90-day probation period. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance through BCBSNC, paid time off and sick pay, a 20% discount in the village excluding alcoholic beverages, an annual complimentary dinner and stay at The Fearrington House Inn and Restaurant, discounts at other Relais & Chateaux properties, and participation in a 401(k) plan with employer match after one year of employment.
Fearrington House Restaurant values dedication, positive attitude, and a strong work ethic. The team is committed to quality service and creating an environment where talented individuals can thrive professionally. This opportunity is ideal for qualified bakers looking to bring their artisanal techniques to a prestigious and supportive setting, while enjoying the benefits and community atmosphere of Fearrington Village.
