Job Description

The role is focused on the Arriba Abajo Cantina-themed Bar and Restaurant situated within two premier lifestyle hotels in downtown Austin—the Thompson and Tommie Austin hotels. This exciting new concept, opening in early spring, spans 17,000 square feet of versatile indoor and outdoor dining and lounge space. It features multiple venues for private events as well as a pool deck that serves hotel guests and residents. As a restaurant server, you will play a critical role in ensuring guests have an exceptional dining experience by providing attentive service, understanding guest preferences, and making recommendations from an extensive menu of cuisine and beverages.
Arriba Abajo offers a vibrant and lively dining atmosphere that celebrates Mexican-inspired flavors with a modern twist. This role requires the ability to engage guests in casual conversation and offer knowledgeable insights into the menu to enhance the overall guest experience. The position demands physical stamina and dedication, along with a passion for hospitality service in a fast-paced environment.
The Thompson Hotel in Austin embodies a unique blend of timeless elegance and modern luxury, offering 212 luxury guestrooms and suites alongside 17 residences, complete with a 10,000 square foot wellness center, multiple dining concepts, an expansive pool deck with cabanas, and over 10,000 square feet of event spaces. Tommie Austin complements this with its spirited adventurer theme, encouraging guests to explore local culture from a welcoming, art-inspired environment featuring a bespoke coffee and wine shop.
Both hotels are anchored by the reimagined cantina-themed restaurant, which serves as a lively social hub with indoor and outdoor amenities. This mixed-use project also includes a residential tower and community amenities such as retail space and a state-of-the-art fitness center known as the "T" Box.

Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- prior experience in a fast-paced restaurant or hospitality environment preferred
- excellent interpersonal skills
- ability to multitask effectively

- availability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays
