Job Description

Loomis is a leading cash handling and armored transportation company with nearly 200 branches across the United States, committed to ensuring the secure movement and management of cash for financial institutions and retail businesses. Known for its extensive network of cash management centers and cash inventory vaults, Loomis stands out as a trusted partner in cash logistics and security solutions. With a strong emphasis on career growth and employee satisfaction, Loomis has cultivated a work environment where dedicated individuals can progress from entry-level positions such as driver/guards and tellers to managerial and executive roles within the company. This culture of advancement and professional development makes Loomis a desirable employer in the cash management and security industry.

The Vault Custodian role at Loomis is a pivotal position within the cash handling process, focusing on maintaining accurate inventory in the company’s secure cash vaults. As a Vault Custodian, you will work closely with your team to meticulously check and verify identifying numbers and seals on deposit bags and change shipments against accompanying receipts and manifests. You will be responsible for counting items, recording amounts and serial numbers, as well as signing and dating necessary documentation to ensure accuracy and accountability. This role requires physical stamina for loading and unloading bags and boxes of coin, sorting cargo by route, and moving heavy carts and wagons within the vault. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will interact verbally with coworkers and customers by telephone to coordinate daily operations.

The Vault Custodian position demands individuals who possess a strong work ethic and physical capability to handle repetitive tasks involving lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. Each item handled typically weighs around 50 pounds, and you must be able to perform these activities several times during shifts that may extend to 6 to 10 hours, five to six days a week. Attention to detail is crucial to ensure that all deposits are accurately documented and sorted, maintaining the integrity of cash handling operations. Additionally, a valid firearms permit or the ability to meet state firearms requirements is necessary due to the nature of the job.

Working conditions involve operating within secure vault rooms that have limited exposure to natural light, and shifts frequently require standing on concrete floors for the majority of the workday. Loomis offers a comprehensive employee benefits package designed to support the well-being and financial security of its workforce. This includes paid vacation, sick time and holidays, health and dental insurance, vision coverage, 401(k) retirement plans, life insurance options, and flexible spending accounts among others. Loomis also prioritizes employee training and development to equip team members with the skills and knowledge needed to excel and advance in their careers.

In summary, joining Loomis as a Vault Custodian means becoming part of a respected and stable company committed to secure cash management, employee growth, and a supportive work environment. This role is ideal for individuals seeking a physically engaging job that supports career progression within the security and cash logistics field, backed by an employer that values safety, reliability, and employee success.
