Job Description
HonorHealth is a prominent nonprofit healthcare system in Arizona, known for its commitment to community health and patient-centered care. Established in 1927, it has grown to become one of the largest healthcare providers in the greater Phoenix area, emphasizing warmth, neighborly kindness, and professional excellence. HonorHealth operates multiple medical centers, including the Shea Medical Center in Scottsdale, AZ, which is central to their network of facilities. The organization strives to create a safe and supportive environment for patients, staff, and visitors alike, underscoring its mission of delivering comprehensive, compassionate healthcare services.
The role of the Armed Security Officer at HonorHealth is critical in maintaining the safety and security of the hospital campus and its surrounding areas. This position is part of the Security Department and primarily involves patrolling the campus, monitoring for any suspicious activity, and ensuring that safety protocols are upheld. The job requires vigilance, quick response to emergencies, and the ability to manage challenging situations involving potential threats or aggressive individuals. Security officers also assist in emergency response efforts, including infant abduction alerts, fire alarms, and crowd control during events. The position is full-time during the day shift, located at the Shea Medical Center in Scottsdale, AZ, with a focus on proactive security measures and customer service, ensuring that the hospital remains a safe place for everyone. Officers must be physically fit and able to respond rapidly to calls, often requiring considerable physical effort such as running or stair climbing.
This role demands a professional who can balance firmness and courtesy, acting as a brand ambassador for HonorHealth by greeting patients, visitors, staff, and vendors with a welcoming demeanor. The job also includes responsibilities for completing regular training in crisis intervention, self-defense, and firearms handling to maintain certification and readiness. Being part of this role means collaborating closely with community partners and law enforcement when necessary to uphold the highest safety standards on all HonorHealth properties.
