Job Description

HonorHealth is one of Arizona's largest nonprofit healthcare systems, serving a population of five million people in the greater Phoenix metropolitan area. The organization operates a comprehensive network that includes six acute-care hospitals, a vast medical group providing primary, specialty, and urgent care services, as well as cancer care, outpatient surgery centers, clinical research, medical education, a foundation, an accountable care organization, and various community services. With nearly 17,000 team members, 3,700 affiliated providers, and around 2,000 volunteers, HonorHealth is dedicated to delivering high-quality care and improving the health and well-being of communities across Arizona. HonorHealth is committed to innovation, excellence, and compassion in healthcare, aiming to go beyond the usual expectations of a traditional healthcare system. The organization offers extensive training and development programs, enabling team members to choose how and where they want to make a meaningful impact. Full-time and part-time employees benefit from a diverse portfolio of benefits designed to support their well-being and that of their families. More information about their benefits can be found at honorhealth.com/benefits.

The Armed Security Officer role at HonorHealth is a vital position focused on ensuring a safe and secure environment across designated properties, including the John C. Lincoln Medical Center. This full-time position primarily operates during night shifts, specifically between 1800-0600 and 2200-0600 hours. The officer patrols assigned areas, screens visitors, monitors entrances through weapons detection systems, and enforces policies related to parking, smoking, and badge compliance. The position requires proactive vigilance, investigating potential risks, hazards, or suspicious activities, reporting them promptly to leadership, and taking immediate action when emergencies arise. As a first responder to incidents such as infant abduction alarms, fire alarms, panic alarms, and restraint calls, the Armed Security Officer must be prepared to manage safety, maintain order, and protect personnel and property, sometimes in situations involving aggression or risk of injury.

The role also demands collaboration with law enforcement and security leadership during protection details, crowd control, surveillance for major events, and mass casualty situations. Responsibilities include documenting incidents thoroughly, maintaining daily activity logs, and participating in continuous training programs covering nonviolent crisis intervention, self-defense techniques, firearms handling, and other specialized equipment certifications. Beyond security duties, the officer represents HonorHealth as a brand ambassador, maintaining cordial and professional interactions with patients, visitors, vendors, and staff. The job entails a combination of physical stamina, situational awareness, excellent communication skills, and adherence to established protocols to create a safe and welcoming healthcare environment. Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED, with preference given to those holding an associate's degree or equivalent, along with 10 years of law enforcement experience in good standing or be retired law enforcement personnel. Various certifications, including a valid driver's license, LEOSA certification, and successful completion of HonorHealth’s armed security training program, are mandatory for hire and ongoing qualification.
