This role involves a combination of leadership, operational duties, and customer service, ensuring each store area is maintained to the highest standards and that the shopping environment remains safe, friendly, and easy to navigate. Area Supervisors are responsible for opening and closing the store, supervising associates, overseeing merchandise presentation, and maintaining cleanliness. They also play a vital role in executing company operational processes and enhancing loss prevention measures.
This position demands a leader who values safety above all, maintaining secure environments for customers and associates alike by proactively addressing issues and complying with all safety protocols. They maintain store security, manage electronic surveillance checks, and ensure emergency procedures are followed rigorously. The Area Supervisor is also the face of the company, expected to consistently demonstrate respect, courtesy, and professionalism to customers, associates, and fellow leaders. They uphold the corporate brand and appearance standards through adherence to dress code policies and maintaining a clean and well-merchandised store.
Additionally, the Area Supervisor ensures proper merchandising by overseeing merchandise receiving, stocking, markdown processes, and back-stock management to company standards. They lead loss prevention efforts by maintaining a strong presence on the sales floor, safeguarding merchandise and confidential information, and carrying out package inspections and other prevention best practices. Front end supervision is also a major part of the role, where the supervisor facilitates smooth checkout operations, manages associate schedules, and ensures productivity and friendly customer interactions.
Other responsibilities include managing the fitting rooms, overseeing cash handling and payroll compliance, and performing various administrative duties assigned by the Store Manager. The Job requires strong competencies such as managing work processes, business acumen, planning and prioritizing, talent building, collaboration, leading by example, effective communication, and ensuring accountability and execution.
Candidates for this role should possess excellent verbal communication skills, fluency in English, and ideally have prior customer service and supervisory experience. Familiarity with POS systems and the ability to perform basic retail mathematical calculations is important. The position requires availability for evenings and weekends and the physical ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, climb, lift, and handle various store equipment and materials. Supervisory responsibility includes managing retail associates and stockroom leads where applicable.
Ross values its people immensely, encouraging individuals who want to grow in a supportive, dynamic, and diverse environment to join their team as Area Supervisors.
