Ross Stores, Inc. is a prominent off-price retail chain that has firmly established itself as a leader in the retail sector with over 2,200 stores nationwide. Founded with the mission of providing customers with a continuously refreshed selection of high-quality brand merchandise at exceptional savings, Ross has carved a niche in delivering a fun and engaging shopping experience often described as a "treasure hunt." This unique approach, coupled with an unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction and operational excellence, has propelled Ross Stores to become a Fortune 500 company with 2025 revenues reaching $22.8 billion. Beyond its retail footprint, Ross operates from its corporate headquarters in Dublin, California, and maintains multiple buying offices in strategic markets such as New York City, Los Angeles, and Boston, alongside eight distribution centers spread throughout the country. Ross' business model emphasizes not only value and quality but also places considerable importance on fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and growth-oriented work culture.

Joining Ross means becoming part of a team that highly values its people and champions several core principles that guide its business ethos. Success is driven by a commitment to excellence and a culture that encourages continuous learning and evolution. This creates an empowering environment where individuals are motivated to grow professionally and personally. Career advancement is prioritized at Ross, recognizing that the company’s growth is intrinsically linked to the development of its people. Teamwork is another cornerstone, with a collaborative approach to solving challenges and ensuring the delivery of the best solutions. Ross also holds a resolute commitment to diversity, equality, inclusion, and community engagement, celebrating the diverse backgrounds and ideas of both employees and customers and striving to positively impact the communities it serves.

The role of Area Supervisor at Ross is pivotal within the store leadership team. This position oversees a designated area of the store and assumes comprehensive operational responsibility when acting as the Manager on Duty. It is a hands-on leadership role that combines customer service, supervision, and operational tasks to maintain a friendly, well-organized, and safe shopping environment. Area Supervisors are entrusted with a variety of critical responsibilities, including opening and closing the store, driving proper merchandise presentation according to company standards, upholding cleanliness, and ensuring all operational processes are executed effectively. In addition, this role strongly focuses on safety and security, with duties encompassing building security control, execution of safety protocols, emergency response preparedness, and accident prevention.

Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills are essential as Area Supervisors influence the store atmosphere by modeling professionalism, courtesy, and respect for both associates and customers. They support and enforce company policies and standards, from dress code adherence to merchandising consistency. Practical merchandising duties involve managing stockrooms, handling inbound deliveries, loss prevention, and ensuring sales floor presentation aligns with monthly guidelines. Supervisory tasks extend to training and coaching front-end associates, overseeing register operations, managing schedules, and ensuring efficient customer flow. The Area Supervisor additionally has responsibilities for administrative tasks such as cash handling, payroll administration, and maintaining compliance with store procedures.

This role requires physical stamina to meet the demands of extensive standing, walking, lifting, and other movements within the store environment. Ross offers a dynamic work setting that tests and builds competencies in managing work processes, business acumen, talent development, collaboration, communication, accountability, and hands-on leadership. Candidates who excel as Area Supervisors will display integrity, dedication, and a customer-first mindset to help Ross continue its trajectory as a premier off-price retailer while supporting a positive, inclusive workplace culture.
