With revenues amounting to $22.8 billion in 2025, Ross is proud to be a Fortune 500 company focused on fostering an inclusive work environment, prioritizing continuous learning and professional development. Ross values its people, emphasizing teamwork, career growth, diversity, equality, inclusion, and community impact as core company principles.
The Area Supervisor role at Ross is a vital position within the store leadership team, charged with the supervision of a specific assigned area in the store as well as general store operations during their shift as Manager on Duty. This role is designed for individuals who thrive in dynamic retail environments and who bring strong leadership and operational skills. Area Supervisors are responsible for managing the opening and closing procedures of the store, overseeing sales associates, and ensuring that the shopping environment remains customer-friendly, clean, and organized. They play a crucial role in merchandise presentation, ensuring all products are displayed to company standards, and that back-stock and stockroom organization is maintained.
Additionally, the Area Supervisor role demands a vigilant focus on safety and security, maintaining the integrity of the sales floor, store premises, and customer experience. This includes responsibilities such as daily electronic article surveillance system checks, cash office security, and emergency procedures. Customer service is a fundamental aspect of this position, requiring Area Supervisors to model respectful, courteous, and professional interactions with customers, associates, and store leadership.
Operational tasks extend to supervising loss prevention activities, training associates on best practices at the front end, managing register procedures, and handling administrative duties like payroll and cash management. The role also entails compliance with store policies, teamwork to solve operational challenges, and communication across various departments. Candidates for this position should possess excellent verbal communication skills, supervisory experience, and be comfortable working evenings and weekends. Physical demands include the ability to stand and walk throughout the shift and occasionally lift or move merchandise or equipment.
Overall, the Area Supervisor at Ross is an essential leadership role providing supervision, operational excellence, and an exceptional customer experience — contributing directly to the success and growth of the company while supporting its commitment to a welcoming and inclusive workplace environment.
