Job Description
Merete is a nationally recognized hotel management company renowned for its commitment to strategic thinking, data-driven leadership, and fostering a culture of operational excellence and innovation. With an award-winning culture, Merete prioritizes creating a collaborative and empowering work environment. The company’s dedication to growth, excellence, fun, and community shapes its internal culture and drives everything it does. Merete invests in the development of its associates, promotes from within, and supports a strong career journey for its employees. Their values emphasize not only professional achievement but the importance of joy and connection as essential elements fueling great work. Employees benefit from competitive pay, flexible scheduling, comprehensive health benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, and travel discounts at Merete and partner properties.
The role of Area Sales Manager at Merete is a key position responsible for achieving hotel revenue goals within designated market segments. This position is designed for a professional with substantial hotel sales experience, preferably with a major brand such as Marriott, Hilton, or IHG. The Area Sales Manager primarily works from home but is expected to travel locally within Washington and Oregon for client meetings and hotel visits. This work style allows for a dynamic combination of remote work and face-to-face interactions essential for building strong customer relationships and driving sales.
Key responsibilities of this role include understanding customer needs deeply to recommend the most suitable products and services, employing excellent negotiation and creative selling skills to maximize revenue, and nurturing enduring client loyalty. The Area Sales Manager will leverage franchise tools efficiently and maintain regular communication with hotel leadership and associates through frequent site visits. The role also entails conducting meet-and-greets, hotel tours, and site inspections that help potential customers appreciate the facilities.
Building and strengthening relationships within the local community is another vital duty, aimed at expanding the customer base and fostering long-term business partnerships. The sales professional in this position is expected to undertake proactive selling activities, including prospecting, networking, and conducting outside face-to-face sales calls. The ability to create effective electronic correspondence and maintain punctuality and attendance further supports the role’s success.
Physically, this role demands a mix of activities such as standing and walking during tours, sitting while performing administrative tasks, and occasional lifting and carrying of items up to 20 pounds. The role requires time management skills, professional representation of the company at all times, and the ability to meet or exceed sales productivity and revenue targets. Merete emphasizes a safe work environment and expects compliance with all safety standards, especially when exposed to varying weather conditions during sales calls.
Merete is dedicated to fostering diversity and inclusion within its workforce. The company is committed to creating a supportive workplace where individuals from all backgrounds and experiences are welcomed and valued. This inclusive approach not only enriches Merete’s internal culture but also enhances its service to guests and the broader community. As an equal opportunity employer, Merete ensures fair consideration of all qualified applicants regardless of race, religion, color, national origin, gender identity, or any other protected status.
