The role of Area Sales Manager at Auro Hotels is a critical position within the company’s sales team, responsible for driving revenue growth across multiple Marriott-branded properties in downtown Greenville. This role focuses primarily on new business development, especially targeting the Association Group Market, and aims to meet or exceed assigned revenue goals which include rooms, food and beverage sales, meeting room rentals, and other incremental revenues. The Area Sales Manager acts as a professional ambassador for Auro Hotels, ensuring all client transactions adhere to legal and ethical standards while providing guests and business partners with comprehensive and accurate information about the hotel accommodations and event spaces.

This position requires a high level of sales expertise, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to develop and maintain long-term relationships with clients. The Area Sales Manager is expected to execute effective revenue and yield management strategies, negotiate contracts, and follow up on sales leads with prompt correspondence. The role also involves detailed planning and coordination with various hotel departments to ensure exceptional client satisfaction and seamless service delivery. To be successful in this role, candidates must possess a deep understanding of the hospitality industry, including catering, banquet operations, and hotel services, and exhibit strong leadership and communication capabilities.

Job Duties

  • Dedicate significant time to direct telephone solicitation sales
  • develop new business predominantly from the Association Group Market
  • meet or exceed assigned revenue goals including rooms, food and beverage, and meeting room rental
  • represent Auro Hotels professionally to clients, guests, and business partners
  • assure all guest transactions are handled legally and ethically
  • provide prospects with complete and accurate hotel information and negotiate rates to maximize revenues
  • develop positive relationships with clients by anticipating needs and resolving issues promptly
  • practice effective revenue and yield management including negotiation and booking of function spaces
  • consult with client representatives to plan event details
  • communicate arrangements to department heads to ensure high service levels
  • manage time effectively and complete reports and projects timely
  • possess strong knowledge of sales techniques, catering operations, revenue management, guest relations, and hotel services
  • execute rate negotiations, issue contracts, and process bookings with follow-ups
  • maintain lost business reports and track tentative and definite business by market segments
  • conduct familiarization tours, site inspections, and represent the company at trade shows and presentations
  • perform group departure interviews and follow-ups with critiques and re-solicitations
  • maintain mailing lists for soliciting future business
  • monitor competition knowledge
  • meet assigned sales and profit margin budgets
  • assist in annual sales goal development and monthly booking reports
  • operate within cost constraints
  • prepare profit-maximizing proposals
  • follow up with in-house customers for additional business
  • maintain proper flow of information through sales work files
  • attend yield management and staff meetings in the absence of the Director of Sales
  • achieve key sales objectives on schedule
  • assist in promotional and project execution
  • ensure maximum occupancy by coordinating with Front Office
  • solve interdepartmental issues related to booked business
  • conduct market analysis for client needs and occupancy potential
  • develop plans and special sales activities
  • conduct associate meetings and counseling
  • comply with management assigned duties and schedules
