The role of the Revenue Manager at InterContinental Hotels & Resorts is a critical position responsible for implementing and supporting the company's pricing, market strategy, yield, distribution, selling strategies, and revenue management best practices. The primary objective is to manage and maximize hotel revenue generation through the full utilization of company systems, business processes, and established specifications. This involves close collaboration with multiple departments including sales, marketing, front office, reservations, and general management to ensure that revenue goals are met and exceeded.

As a Revenue Manager, the candidate will analyze group bookings, market trends, and competitor strategies to establish and adjust pricing levels within all market segments. The position demands a deep understanding of demand drivers in the local market alongside innovative methods to stimulate additional revenue without increasing costs. This role requires the oversight of software programs related to revenue management and the evaluation of incentive programs aimed at front office and sales departments to ensure alignment with overall revenue objectives.

They act as a vital point of interaction not only within the hotel but also with external contacts including guests, corporate revenue offices, and professional organizations. This position typically exists in large, full-service, luxury, or resort hotels, and sometimes may include area or multi-unit responsibilities. The salary range for the Revenue Manager role is $60,000 to $75,000 annually, with eligibility for bonus pay. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in hotel administration, business administration or related field
  • Minimum 2 years of hotel management experience
  • Ability to carry or lift items up to 10 pounds
  • Proficient keyboard skills for operating management and reservation systems
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with guests, employees, and third parties
  • Mathematical skills including budgeting and analysis of profit/loss and variances
  • Understanding of microeconomics as it applies to hotel business
  • Demonstrated knowledge of hotel pricing, yield management and selling strategies
  • Strong computer literacy
  • Excellent reading and writing skills
  • Problem solving, reasoning and organizational skills
  • Ability to motivate and train teams
  • Ability to travel for training and certification

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in hotel administration, business administration or related field
  • Minimum 2 years of hotel management and revenue management experience
  • Preferably holds an MBA and prior pricing experience
  • Fluent in English
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with hotel property management and reservations systems
  • Excellent communication, mathematical, problem-solving, organizational, and leadership abilities
  • Knowledge of microeconomics and hotel pricing concepts
  • Ability to analyze market data and competitor strategies
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and work cross-functionally
  • Willingness to travel for workshops and training
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required

Job Duties

  • Receive all definite and tentative group bookings and provide analysis of their impact on occupancy, average rate, and rooms profit
  • Review and approve all group proposals with sales and/or general manager
  • Collaborate with sales department on group rates
  • Work with regional director of revenue management, hotel sales, and hotel management to establish and implement pricing, yield, and selling strategies
  • Explore market mix variations to stimulate additional revenue without increasing costs
  • Oversee and evaluate internal incentive programs for front office, reservations, sales and convention services with payback analysis
  • Maintain software programs related to room revenue management including PERFORM, RBI, Delphi/Profit Pack or other group sales systems
  • Establish hotel pricing levels in all segments
  • Monitor competitor strategies and local market dynamics and present action plans
  • Communicate occupancy fluctuations to operational departments
  • Assist with the annual hotel budget development and ongoing results analysis
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination
  • Interact with guests to ensure satisfaction and corporate revenue teams to implement strategies
  • Manage daily room inventory and monitor group blocks for room availability
  • Work with sales, marketing, front office, and reservations management to balance departmental objectives with revenue goals
  • Prepare quarterly presentations and reports tracking progress against forecast goals
  • Chair weekly revenue management meetings evaluating current booking period rates and availability
  • Prepare all necessary reports and analyses for meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned
