Job Description
Amazon is a global leader in e-commerce and cloud computing, renowned for its relentless innovation and commitment to customer satisfaction. As one of the world’s most influential technology companies, Amazon operates a vast network of fulfillment centers, technology platforms, and logistics services that deliver millions of products to customers in hundreds of countries. The company’s operational success hinges on its ability to maintain fast, accurate, and reliable service at an unprecedented scale. Central to this mission is the Operations division, which ensures that every shipment, every package, and every service is executed flawlessly. Within Operations, the Reliability & Maintenance Engineering (RME) team plays a crucial role by managing and optimizing robotics and material handling equipment (MHE). This behind-the-scenes team is responsible for the continuous improvement and maintenance of advanced systems that support Amazon’s fulfillment centers worldwide, enabling the company to meet the high expectations of its customers.
The Area Maintenance Manager position at Amazon represents a pivotal leadership role within the RME team. Based in Baton Rouge, LA, this role primarily focuses on managing and leading a dedicated maintenance team responsible for ensuring the safety, efficiency, and reliability of material handling equipment and robotics systems. The manager will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive preventative maintenance strategies aimed at minimizing equipment downtime and maximizing operational productivity. This position blends strategic planning with hands-on leadership, requiring the ability to address both long-term improvements and immediate operational challenges. The Area Maintenance Manager will coordinate closely with various operational and technical teams, as well as external contractors, to foster a collaborative environment that prioritizes safety and continuous improvement.
Beyond technical oversight, the role emphasizes cultivating a positive and empowering work culture. The manager will mentor and guide service technicians and automation engineers, supporting their professional development and promoting high performance. This leadership responsibility includes ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols, managing performance metrics related to material handling systems, and quickly responding to emergencies with effective, decisive actions. Working at Amazon means engaging in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where flexibility, problem-solving skills, and team collaboration are crucial to success.
Amazon offers an attractive compensation package for the Area Maintenance Manager role, including a competitive salary range of $91,800 to $137,700 annually, sign-on incentives, and restricted stock units (RSUs). Employees benefit from comprehensive healthcare coverage starting on day one, including medical, dental, vision, prescription coverage, basic life insurance, and options for supplemental plans. Additional perks include a 401(k) matching program, up to 20 weeks of paid parental leave, lightweight fire-resistant daily wear, composite toe safety shoes, and access to employee assistance programs and mental health support. This role requires a flexible schedule, including weekend and night shifts, reflecting the continuous nature of operations at Amazon’s fulfillment centers.
Joining Amazon means contributing to a company that values innovation, diversity, and inclusion. The Area Maintenance Manager will play a key role in keeping the lifeline of Amazon's fulfillment network running smoothly, ensuring that customers' packages are delivered safely and efficiently around the globe. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead and grow within a technology-driven operational environment that sets the standard for excellence worldwide.
