Job Description
Amazon is a global leader in e-commerce and technology services, renowned for its relentless innovation and operational excellence. As one of the largest employers worldwide, Amazon's operations form the beating heart of its business, delivering tens of thousands of products daily to hundreds of countries across the globe. The company continually pioneers advancements in logistics, robotics, and customer service to uphold its promise of speed, accuracy, and exceptional customer satisfaction. Amazon's Reliability & Maintenance Engineering (RME) team plays a vital role in ensuring the seamless functionality of the company's material handling equipment (MHE) and robotics systems, which are crucial to maintaining Amazon's reputation and operational efficiency. This team partners closely with various business units to drive continuous improvement and maintain critical infrastructure that supports the company's expansive network of fulfillment centers.
This position is for an Area Maintenance Manager on the RME team, a key leadership role responsible for managing a dynamic maintenance team and transforming workplace environments. The role centers on ensuring workplace safety, operational efficiency, and maintenance excellence. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong hands-on problem-solving skills, who can balance preventive maintenance planning with immediate response to operational challenges. The Area Maintenance Manager will be instrumental in developing and implementing comprehensive maintenance strategies that optimize the performance and reliability of material handling equipment and automation technology. Leading a team of service technicians and automation engineers, this manager will foster a culture of continuous improvement, professional development, and safety compliance.
Responsibilities encompass a mix of leadership, technical oversight, and project coordination. The individual will develop preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and improve system availability, manage external contractors to uphold service quality, and monitor equipment performance metrics to identify and mitigate potential issues proactively. This role requires collaboration with operations teams to ensure alignment of maintenance activities with overall business goals and quick, decisive action in emergency situations. The role offers a unique opportunity to work in a cutting-edge technological environment within one of the world's most influential companies.
Amazon offers a highly competitive compensation package for this role, including a base salary ranging approximately from $91,800 to $137,700 annually, complemented by sign-on bonuses and restricted stock units (RSUs). Additionally, comprehensive healthcare benefits begin from day one covering medical, dental, vision, prescription coverage, basic life and accident insurance, flexible spending accounts, and mental health support. The package also includes a generous 401(k) matching program, paid parental leave up to 20 weeks, and paid time off. Safety equipment such as lightweight fire-resistant daily wear and composite toe safety shoes are provided to support employee wellbeing on the job. The role requires flexibility regarding work shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the 24/7 nature of Amazon's operations.
Joining Amazon as an Area Maintenance Manager within the RME team means becoming part of an inclusive and forward-thinking culture that values diversity and empowers every employee to deliver their best. Amazon is committed to equal opportunity employment and offers accommodations for candidates with disabilities throughout the recruitment process. This role is ideal for experienced maintenance leaders who seek to advance their careers in a fast-paced, impactful environment that shapes the future of logistics and technology at a global scale.
