Job Description

Datavant is a leading data collaboration platform dedicated to transforming healthcare by making health data secure, accessible, and actionable. The company provides vital data solutions to a broad spectrum of healthcare organizations including providers, health plans, researchers, and life sciences companies. By joining Datavant, employees contribute to a mission-driven environment that is fundamentally changing how health data is connected and utilized to improve patient outcomes and advance healthcare innovation. Datavant empowers healthcare stakeholders by enabling secure sharing and analysis of patient information, supporting endeavors such as medical record retrieval and facilitating the AI revolution in healthcare to drive smarter, data-informed decisions.

This role is an intermediate level position focused on the processing and release of information (ROI), specifically managing medical record requests in a timely, accurate, and HIPAA-compliant manner. The position requires extensive travel—approximately 75% or more—across various facilities including Green Hills Nashville, Lebanon, Tullahoma, and Clarksville, Tennessee. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring that patient confidentiality is maintained at all times, processing requests with precision, and delivering high-quality customer service. This is a hybrid role with full-time hours that can vary between early morning to late afternoon shifts, emphasizing flexibility and responsiveness. Employees are expected to handle 90% of electronic retrieval tasks alongside scanning and copying of medical records, ensuring the integrity and privacy of sensitive health information. Additionally, the role incorporates leadership responsibilities such as leading daily team huddles, training new staff, and providing shadowing support to enhance team efficiency and quality of service. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel, and strong communication skills are key for success.

The ideal candidate will bring at least one year of related Health Information Management (HIM) experience, a solid understanding of medical privacy laws, and strong attention to detail. They will be adept at managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and possess the ability to prioritize effectively to meet deadlines while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies. Experience working with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as EPIC and Cerner is highly preferred, alongside skills in document review and redaction to protect sensitive information. The candidate must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate forward-thinking problem-solving capabilities. This role offers an opportunity to be part of a dynamic and highly collaborative team committed to improving healthcare through innovative data solutions and operational excellence, supported by comprehensive training and career development resources.
