At its core, Sodexo values creating a better everyday for everyone, emphasizing respect, inclusion, and the importance of diversity within its workforce. The company thrives on fostering a workplace where employees feel valued, heard, and supported, ensuring their growth and satisfaction.
The Area Executive Chef position at Sodexo, based at the University of Nebraska-Kearney, Nebraska, offers an exciting leadership opportunity in the culinary field. This role is critical in setting and maintaining high standards of culinary excellence not only for the University of Nebraska-Kearney but also across five additional district accounts through both hands-on onsite support and virtual collaboration. The Chef will spearhead the creation and implementation of standardized culinary operations and innovative menus tailored to diverse client needs. In doing so, they will build strong partnerships that elevate the overall dining experience.
This role involves managing and mentoring culinary teams, carrying out performance evaluations, overseeing hiring and termination decisions, and influencing various organizational departments to achieve business goals. The Area Executive Chef will play a vital role in streamlining culinary systems to boost operational consistency, overseeing purchasing and procurement to balance cost-effectiveness with quality, and enhancing the dining environment with fresh, exciting culinary ideas. As a leader, the Chef will foster team development, inspire creativity, and cultivate meaningful client relationships while driving continuous improvement and strategic growth within their area of responsibility.
This position not only requires extensive culinary expertise, particularly in high-volume and fast-paced kitchen settings, but also demands strong leadership skills and the ability to mentor and develop future culinary leaders. A deep understanding of current culinary trends, advanced menu planning skills, and exceptional organizational abilities are essential. The Area Executive Chef must also demonstrate proficiency with computer systems that enhance operational efficiency and possess problem-solving abilities that contribute to productivity improvements. Food safety and compliance knowledge, including ServSafe certification and understanding of HACCP principles, are critical to ensuring the highest standards of food quality and hygiene.
Sodexo offers a comprehensive benefits package to its employees, including medical, dental, and vision care coverage, wellness programs, a 401(k) plan with matching contributions, paid time off, company holidays, career growth opportunities, and tuition reimbursement.
