Job Description

Young Life is a notable Christian ministry organization dedicated to evangelism and discipleship among youth through relational ministry. Rooted in a rich tradition emphasizing Christian values and beliefs, Young Life focuses on nurturing spiritual growth by fostering meaningful relationships between volunteers, staff, and children. This faith-based nonprofit organization operates with a mission to introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and help them grow in their faith through a variety of dynamic programs including clubs, camping experiences, and personal mentoring. Established with a clear mission articulated in its Articles of Incorporation, Young Life seeks to employ individuals who are passionate about serving God through youth ministry and who strictly adhere to its Statement of Faith.

This detailed job opportunity is for an Area Director role, which functions as a key leadership position within Young Life. The Area Director is responsible for supervising the Texas A&M College Director while providing notable support in recruiting and placing college leaders. The role is slated to begin June 1, 2026, and involves deep involvement in various ministry functions that encompass spiritual development, leadership development, resource development, direct ministry, and ministry support. The successful candidate will develop a vibrant spiritual life, lead teams and individuals in their spiritual journey, and ensure all ministry activities are prayerfully grounded in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

In this position, you will partner with regional directors and committees to cast vision and drive efforts toward reaching every kid in the defined area. You will maintain consistent communication with committee members and volunteers, effectively recruiting and training leaders at all levels. The role demands overseeing the summer staff and volunteers, ensuring excellence in contact work, clubs, Campaigners, and camp ministry. A strategic outlook is required for managing finances, maintaining donor relationships, and executing fundraising initiatives, always keeping the ministry financially healthy and sustainable. The position also calls for conducting quality events that engage the community and reflecting the empowering impact of Young Life’s mission.

Being an Area Director at Young Life is a unique opportunity to combine administrative leadership with hands-on ministry. It requires a person who can gracefully navigate the demands of office management while actively engaging in spiritual and direct ministry activities. The role involves physical demands including exposure to the rigors of camp environments such as hiking, horseback riding, boating, and enduring various temperatures and outdoor work conditions. Candidates must be ready and willing to meet these challenges with resilience.

Furthermore, Young Life emphasizes continuous learning and professional development. The ideal candidate is expected to successfully complete the Area Director School and Core Training Phases, participate in mission-wide conferences, regional training, and pursue additional educational opportunities such as graduate degrees. Spiritual maturity and ongoing personal enrichment are pillars of this role, demonstrated through active participation in church communities and dedicated spiritual disciplines.

Crucially, Young Life requires that all employees affirm a belief in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord. This role is not merely a job but a calling to minister as a servant of God, proclaiming the gospel and embodying Christ-like leadership among youth and the wider community. Applicants are expected to uphold Young Life’s biblical standards and policies both during and outside of working hours, making this position a profound vocational commitment.

In summary, the Young Life Area Director position offers a fulfilling career path for those committed to Christian ministry and leadership. It blends strategic vision casting, resource management, relationship building, and active ministry outreach to profoundly impact the lives of children and volunteers alike. If you are passionate about leading with faith, have strong leadership capabilities, and are prepared for the physical and spiritual challenges presented by this role, this opportunity at Young Life could be your next significant ministry adventure.
