Job Description

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale is a well-established non-profit organization dedicated to empowering youth and fostering a safe, positive environment where children and teens aged 5-18 can thrive. The Area Director position is a leadership role responsible for overseeing operations at 4-5 assigned Boys & Girls Club locations. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), this role is integral to advancing the organization’s mission by ensuring the safety, quality, and effectiveness of programs offered to youth. The Area Director works closely with the COO to set organizational goals, manage resources efficiently, and develop policies that align with the club's strategic direction. This position ensures that club locations maintain operational excellence, promote engaging and impactful programming, and meet key performance metrics such as membership growth, attendance, and financial sustainability.

In this role, the Area Director assumes full management responsibility for staff and volunteers, including hiring, compensation, training, performance management, and fostering a positive work environment. The individual acts as a coach and leader for Branch Directors, holding teams accountable for achieving objectives while supporting their professional development. Alongside operational duties, the Area Director also manages community relationships and partnerships, acts as a liaison between clubs, families, and external organizations, and supports marketing initiatives in collaboration with the marketing team. The position requires a decisive leader capable of resolving crises effectively, making strategic decisions that align with organizational priorities, and ensuring safety standards and cleanliness across all facilities.

The Area Director champions continuous quality improvement by analyzing data related to attendance and program outcomes and implementing strategies to enhance service delivery. Responsibilities include overseeing financial management, budgeting, facilities maintenance, and compliance with all human resources policies. This position is vital to maintaining a welcoming and supportive environment for club members and staff alike. The role also involves special projects as assigned by senior leadership. Overall, the Area Director plays a key role in shaping the future success of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale through dynamic leadership and operational expertise.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field
  • minimum 2 years operations experience
  • proficient in Microsoft Suite applications
  • outstanding communication skills both verbal and written
  • experience with recruitment, selection, development, management, and evaluation of staff
  • demonstrated ability to plan and implement effective operations
  • strong leadership skills including negotiation, critical thinking, problem solving, decision-making, and delegation
  • ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and/or collaborative partnerships with Board members, club staff, volunteers, community groups, and other agencies
  • flawless ethics and integrity

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Supports and mirrors the culture, mission, values, and core beliefs of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale
  • manages staff hiring, compensation, retention, recognition, safety, performance management, and training
  • directly supervises Branch Directors of assigned clubs
  • creates a positive work environment and provides coaching and training opportunities
  • ensures a healthy and safe environment across clubs with quality programs and services
