Job Description
P.F. Chang's is a renowned leader in the restaurant industry, widely recognized for delivering exceptional guest experiences and fostering a culture rooted in excellence, integrity, and innovation. This full-service, polished-upscale casual dining brand has carved a distinctive niche in the market by blending Asian-inspired cuisine with American dining sensibilities, creating memorable and personalized dining experiences. As a company, P.F. Chang's is committed not only to culinary excellence but also to the development and growth of its team, ensuring that every member is empowered to contribute meaningfully to the brand's success and customer satisfaction. The organizational culture promotes collaboration, continuous learning, and dedication to the highest standards of food quality and service.
The role of Area Director, also known as the Market Partner, is a dynamic, field-based leadership position that carries significant responsibility and influence across multiple restaurants within the greater Miami-Fort Lauderdale market. This position requires the successful candidate to spend approximately 75% of their time on the ground within Miami-Dade or Broward County, actively supporting and overseeing restaurant operations. As a Market Partner, the primary objective is to drive sales growth, optimize operational efficiency, and maintain adherence to brand standards. The Area Director acts as a vital link between corporate leadership and restaurant operations, ensuring that the company’s vision and values are consistently realized at each location.
This leadership role involves directing teams toward achieving key performance indicators (KPIs), managing EBITDA targets, and controlling operational costs. The Area Director champions compliance with all brand standards, health codes, and safety regulations through frequent site visits, ensuring a spotless, safe, and welcoming environment for both guests and staff. Additionally, the role demands strategic oversight of sales initiatives, including partnering with Operating Partners to develop innovative sales strategies, analyzing market trends, and leading upselling and marketing initiatives to maximize top-line revenue.
Beyond operational and financial performance, the Area Director is responsible for fostering a culture of excellence and driving team development. This includes mentoring Operating Partners to nurture their growth into senior leadership positions, facilitating recruitment and onboarding of new management trainees, and providing ongoing coaching to elevate team performance. Conflict resolution and positive employee relations are integral elements of this position, ensuring a supportive and productive workplace.
The role's critical qualifications include extensive multi-restaurant leadership experience within full-service, upscale casual dining establishments, a passionate commitment to exceptional guest service, proven sales and KPI achievement, and a strong financial acumen complemented by proficiency with point-of-sale (POS) and corporate software systems. Prior experience in restaurant openings is highly preferred, underscoring the company's growth-oriented approach.
This position is mostly based in restaurant environments, with some office and remote work flexibility. Travel is a significant component, up to 75% of the time, reflecting the field-based nature of the role. Employees must be physically capable of fulfilling essential duties such as prolonged standing and walking. P.F. Chang's offers comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(K) plans effective soon after hiring, paid vacation and holidays, competitive pay with performance incentives, tuition reimbursement for professional development, meal cards for use in corporate-owned locations, exclusive employee discounts, and financial assistance programs for qualifying team members.
Choosing to work with P.F. Chang's means joining a passionate community dedicated to meaningful work motivated by a shared purpose: To Celebrate Life, Family, and Food. This opportunity represents more than just a job; it is an invitation to be part of a vibrant company that values integrity, growth, and exceptional guest experiences.
