Associates are expected to proactively engage with customers on the sales floor and at the sales counter, understand their needs, and provide tailored information regarding products, celebrations, and meal preparation. Job Requirements
- At least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Willingness to learn and complete the apprentice cake decorator training program
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 100 pounds with assistance
- Ability to stand, walk, use hands, reach, talk, and hear regularly
- Comply with food safety, sanitation, and company policies
- Demonstrate flexibility and teamwork in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to safely lift heavy objects following safety guidelines
- Ability to operate in moderate to loud environments with exposure to temperature extremes and chemicals
Job Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or GED, or equivalent experience
- Willingness to participate in and complete required training successfully
- Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Basic mathematical skills including addition and subtraction of two-digit numbers and understanding of money and weight units
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and resolve basic problems
- Completion of company-required training including food sanitation, safety, service excellence, and product knowledge
Job Duties
- Take excellent care of customers by satisfying their needs and exceeding expectations
- Participate actively in the apprentice cake decorator program and complete 240 hours of training
- Initiate interaction with customers on the sales floor and sales counter
- Provide customers with information regarding products, specials, and meal requirements
- Follow through on all customer requests and escalate when necessary
- Maintain store cleanliness including cleaning prep rooms, coolers, and food contact surfaces
- Comply with food safety and sanitation standards as per company and regulatory policies
- Sell only fresh products following Harris Teeter standards
- Assist with unloading trucks, checking deliveries, restocking, inventory, and merchandising
- Follow safety regulations and report hazards immediately
- Support team activities and communicate effectively with coworkers and management
- Adapt to varying priorities and perform multiple tasks flexibly
- Answer telephones politely and write orders as needed
- Establish a work environment of trust, respect, and integrity
- Comply with company standards, policies, and procedures throughout the shift
