Job Description
Maroon is a distinguished restaurant inspired by the rich history of the Jamaican Maroons, a group known for their resilience, resourcefulness, and determination. This establishment pays homage to the origins of jerk cooking, which arose from the Maroons' survival, adaptation, and ingenuity. As a unique dining venue, Maroon celebrates Afro-Caribbean and West African culinary influences with a bold and modern approach. This culinary vision is spearheaded by Chef Kwame Onwuachi, a renowned James Beard Award-winning American chef known for his innovative take on these traditional flavors.
Chef Kwame's mission goes beyond simply serving food; he aims to create spaces that honor cultural identity, empower communities, and foster a deep connection between guests and the vibrant stories behind each dish. Maroon offers not only a meal but an immersive experience that captures the spirit and history of the regions that inspire its cuisine. The restaurant's commitment to excellence and hospitality is reflected in its team-oriented culture and guest-first approach.
The role available at Maroon focuses heavily on providing exceptional customer service and maintaining smooth operations in a fast-paced, guest-centric environment. The successful candidate will embody the ethos of teamwork and hospitality, consistently putting guests first, greeting them warmly, and ensuring that their experience exceeds expectations. Responsibilities include accurate inventory management, knowledge sharing about the restaurant’s offerings, and maintaining high health and safety standards aligned with the Southern Nevada Health District codes. This role demands urgency, attention to detail, and a proactive mindset to anticipate and meet both guest and team needs efficiently.
This position requires a friendly yet professional demeanor, multitasking abilities, and a dedication to going above and beyond standard service. The candidate will also support bartenders as needed and ensure that all stations are well-stocked and organized, polished with clean china, glassware, and silverware. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Maroon is looking for individuals passionate about hospitality, who are polished, dynamic, and customer-focused, ready to contribute to a team environment where respect, gratitude, and enthusiasm are key values. Ideal candidates will have prior experience in apprentice bartending, possess a Nevada Food Handler Safety Training Card or ability to obtain one, and demonstrate expertise in current cocktail industry trends. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a cutting-edge restaurant team that values cultural authenticity and superior guest service in a VIP-driven setting.
