Job Description

The University of Detroit Mercy, a premier independent Catholic institution of higher learning sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy and Society of Jesus, is recognized as Michigan's largest and most comprehensive private University. Committed to fostering diversity and academic excellence, Detroit Mercy offers a supportive and engaging environment for its staff and students alike. The University prides itself on its mission-driven approach to education and community, actively welcoming individuals from diverse backgrounds to contribute to its vibrant academic community. Known for its emphasis on holistic development and professional growth, this institution is dedicated to providing quality education and robust support services within a collaborative setting.

The position of Full-Time Administrator at the University of Detroit Mercy entails supervising multiple key departments related to the dental school's clinical operations, including Graduate Clinic Coordinators across various specialties such as Periodontics, Oral Surgery, and AEGD; ADP Coordinator; Pediatric Coordinator; Telecommunication staff; and Reception. This leadership role demands a professional well-versed in dental procedures who can oversee patient interactions and clinic operations effectively. The Administrator ensures that all staff members provide exemplary customer service to patients and visitors, maintaining a friendly and professional environment at all times. Central to this role is the monitoring and management of patient communications — particularly ensuring that patient calls are handled accurately and efficiently, appointments are scheduled properly, and patient information is meticulously managed and updated. The role also involves supervising reception staff to encourage efficient processing of patient check-ins and adherence to protocols, alongside coordinating schedules for graduate clinics, emergencies, and screenings. Further, this position oversees staffing aspects, including ensuring workplace attendance compliance, hiring, training, disciplining, and approving timecards. In addition to serving as a supervisory figure, the Administrator collaborates with financial staff and handles medical consult assistance for both graduate and undergraduate clinics. The role operates during regular business hours from Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with salary commensurate with experience, reflecting the level of responsibility and expertise required. This opportunity presents a rewarding career path for professionals eager to contribute substantially to clinical educational environments and enhanced patient care management.
