TRUMPF Inc. is a leading global high-tech company with a family-run ethos, employing nearly 19,000 people across 71 locations worldwide. Renowned for its cutting-edge technologies and innovation in industries such as laser technology, machine tools, EUV lithography, and electronics, TRUMPF is dedicated to shaping the technological future for generations to come. With a corporate culture that emphasizes collaboration, mutual trust, and bold innovation, TRUMPF provides an environment where unconventional ideas are welcomed and where employees are encouraged to challenge the status quo. This culture fosters creativity and a forward-thinking mindset essential to staying at the forefront of technological advancements. As part of TRUMPF's commitment to growth and innovation, the company seeks dynamic individuals who are driven to contribute to its legacy of excellence and continuous improvement.
The role of Laser Applications Engineer is critical within TRUMPF's Laser Applications Laboratory group. As a Laser Applications Engineer, you will play a vital role in demonstrating the feasibility and capabilities of TRUMPF's laser welding and cutting systems and technologies to diverse industrial customers. This position involves direct and continuous communication with customers, preparing demonstrations, and processing samples tailored to various industry needs. You will be integrated into a highly skilled team of experts specializing in laser technology and materials science. Your primary objective will be to support the sales team by providing comprehensive technological evaluations during the pre-sales process and delivering outstanding customer support post-sales.
This role requires managing and executing customer application trials and demonstrations from initial communication through to sample processing and follow-up. You will support complex application projects both within TRUMPF and at customer sites, collaborating closely with sales personnel during customer visits to discuss laser applications and technology. Additionally, the Laser Applications Engineer serves as an internal consultant on materials science related to laser processing, ensuring that TRUMPF maintains a leadership position in technological expertise. You will routinely communicate with the Laser Applications Laboratory teams in multiple TRUMPF Competence Centers to explore new applications and contribute original work to the internal applications network.
In this role, responsibilities also include equipment setup and operation, maintenance of laboratory areas and equipment, and participation in laboratory equipment need reviews. You will play a key role in supporting Regional Sales Managers and Industry Managers with strategic and key applications across at least two different laser technologies. The role requires up to 25% travel, providing opportunities to engage closely with customers and partners globally.
To thrive as a Laser Applications Engineer at TRUMPF, candidates should bring a strong foundation in engineering or materials science, complemented by hands-on experience in laser processing technologies. Experience with CNC or robotic programming, vision systems, and an understanding of mechanical and electrical machine data are advantageous. Curiosity for new innovations, strong problem-solving capabilities, sound judgment, and excellent organizational skills are essential to succeed in this dynamic and team-oriented environment. Additionally, the position offers a competitive salary range from $70,310 to $95,125, reflecting the level of expertise and responsibility required.
